We really like Sandown, love the beaches as we love to swim in the sea, only downside to Sandown is it really needs an injection of money, very run down in places, such a shame, it must have been so much better in the past.

It could be that it was the end of the season but I found Sandown to be very tired looking. The pier was full of life and colourful. Plenty of regular buses to take you around. Nice walk along the seafront to the zoo.

This was probably a nice seaside town in it's day, but that is no longer the case. The town centre has many run down or boarded up shops. There is a pier which is full of amusement arcades and gaming machines, but that is about all there is here. We made use of the excellent bus network to go and visit Osborne House, and getting a bus out of town is probably your best option.

Sandown has a feel of being neglected a bit over the last few years. It still has some good facilities but overall the town looks a bit "past it". A bit of investment is perhaps needed (and pot-holed in the side roads need attention

Sandown is a family friendly seaside town, with a pier and amusements. The beaches are clean and safe; the main 3 stretches of beach are dog free. A selection of restaurants and pubs selling traditional pub grub are to be found around the town. The shops in the town are varied although like many of our town centres, quite a few are boarded up now. There are 3 parks close by for families with young children. The wildlife sanctuary is well worth a visit as are the nearby towns of Ryde and Shanklin. The local buses are clean, reliable and all the drivers are helpful and friendly.

This is a very small and quiet residential town . Don't go there for the night life or boutique shopping . The beach is sandy and good for swimming. Lots of interesting places for day trips near by.

It was fabulous, the accommodation was immaculate, a lot of thought and effort by the friendly hosts has gone into this. Roomy and beds comfy, we couldn't find a thing not to like. Close by Morrisons, Aldi, Screwfix, Sandown and Shanklin and on route to Newport it's the perfect location. We have been visiting the island for well over 15 years together in hotels, caravans, chalets etc. and my wife said it is simply the best place she has stayed at and we will try here first in future.

Conveniently located near the centre of Sandown, Victoria Lodge was a great base for exploring the Isle of Wight. The hosts were very welcoming when we arrived and showed us around the apartment, which was equipped with everything we needed for self-catering. Having a dedicated car parking space immediately outside was much appreciated.

Location was fine; I know Sandown quite well, so was going there for the umpteenth time visiting family, so I didn't eat in the hotel (which I think was what we used to call 'Drabbles' as children). The Receptionist very kindly brought my suitcase down at the end of my stay and stored it for me.
