Staying at Clementines Town Hotel in York was an absolute delight! The location was perfect, the room was beautifully decorated, and the staff was incredibly friendly. From start to finish, our experience was fantastic. Highly recommend! Additionally, this was our second stay at Clementines Town Hotel, and it was just as wonderful as the first time. This is a Yorkshire gem, quaint, comfortable and convenient. There are delightful walks through fields and the village. Get a history lesson about the location as it’s very interesting. But the point of difference is the exceptional service provided by every member of the staff. The breakfast was superb and our dinners (because we couldn’t resist dining in) were a delight. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Really nice comfortable stay. Spacious room, nicely decorated, with a big comfortable bed and a clean, modern ensuite bathroom. Lots of options provided to make yourself a cuppa which was appreciated. Easy self check in and self check out. Lovely communicative host. A few continental breakfast items available in the room - please note the cafe downstairs (independent from the guesthouse) has pretty limited hours so early risers need not plan to eat breakfast there

FAQs about hotels in York

England Through The Ages

Although abounding in reminders of the past, York is very much a city for the here and now, with excellent shops, bars and restaurants, many along the River Ouse. Surrounding it are the medieval city walls – the longest and best preserved in England – and many of the gates that once allowed access to the city.

Walk the walls for wonderful views towards the city and towering York Minster. Standing proud on a hill, this cavernous church is the seat of the Archbishop of York, the 2nd highest position in the Church of England.

A little south is The Shambles, a narrow street with medieval buildings that now house quaint shops. Going further back in time is the Jorvik Centre, a fascinating museum showcasing the city’s Viking remains. You can even have a go at archaeology yourself at the DIG excavation pits, with replica finds from York’s Roman, Viking, medieval and Victorian eras.

Other York attractions include the National Railway Museum, home to the Flying Scotsman and Mallard trains. Around 30 minutes’ drive away is Castle Howard, a stately home with over 1000 acres of grounds.

Leeds-Bradford Airport is the nearest airport, and there is a great range of hotels, B&Bs and guest houses in York and the outskirts available on Booking.com.

York is a wonderful city.

York is a wonderful city. Unfortunately it rained for most of our visit so we didn't see it at it's best. The Shambles was extremely crowded on the Sunday, with the Christmas Market being there, however, it was much better on Monday. We did a Ghost Bus Tour on Sunday evening, which was very entertaining and well worth the money. The Castle Museum was very festive with live Carol singers in the Victorian part. York Minster was beautiful. We were able to sit in on Eucharist and the choir and the acoustics were amazing. We gave up on the railway museum. With so many roadworks, we couldn't find the entrance and ran out of time We would definitely visit again but would probably avoid Christmas time

I cannot add a unbiased view on the town as it rained every second we were there, so a nice stroll through the market was not so nice, a warm sunny day would have made all the difference. Lovely market, the shambles was worth the walk, all in all it was very nice. but wet.

A lovely clean and safe city with plenty of attractions to go to and enjoyable for all ages . Plenty of eating and drinking places . Great race course and the BarBican for the snooker and concerts . The have a hop on and off bus that you can use to explore York , a great way to get around . The weekends are very busy so midweek might be better and it’s an all year round place to go too. If you like real ale pubs you will be spoilt for choice .

Walking around the town, especially at Christmas time is amazing. A lot of effort goes into public decorations and the overall feel of the city is great. There’s many food places to eat and a great range of proper British pubs to grab a drink or bite to eat in.

York is such a lovely city with some amazing buildings. We attended the carol service at the Minister which certainly gave us the Christmas feeling which continued on the following day when we visited the lovely Christmas Market.

York is a beautiful old city with much to do and see.

York is a beautiful old city with much to do and see. It is very accessible by rail. The physical location on the rivers Ouse and Foss is lovely. There are many historic buildings and features, the most remarkable being York Minster and the city walls. It is one of my favourite cities. It is very good for walking, sightseeing, eating, shopping and worship.

The hotel is immaculately clean and spacious with a very relaxed feel. In accordance with the general feel of the hotel the restaurant is also large and spacious. Our evening meal, £40 for 2 courses for two people was very enjoyable and I think good value compared to a York city centre alternative, By the same logic the breakfast costing £12 per person was excellent value. A buffet style which means you can refill your plates and coffee mugs at will was wonderful. We would definitely stay again.

My 3rd time staying at Moxy York whilst visiting family: a modern vibe to this industrial style hotel. Staff are all very friendly and helpful, and the room was comfortable with tea/coffee making facilities. The buffet breakfast has a good range of dishes for all tastes, and I do appreciate the oat/soya alternatives. Hotel is a short walk from the city centre, and short drive from the railway station: expect to pay around £5.00 for Uber. Room price was fair for a popular destination.

The hotel was in a great location, just a short walk to the city centre. The room had a view of York Minster from the window. The room was spotless and beautifully decorated and the beds were very comfortable. The staff was very welcoming and were very knowledgable about the city with recommendations of where to go and directions.
