FAQs about hotels in Budapest

A City of Two Halves

With a dome reminiscent of Brunelleschi’s "The Duomo" in Florence, the Hungarian parliament building is undoubtedly the icon of Budapest. It sits majestically by the Danube, the river that both divides and unifies the 2 parts of this capital city: Buda and Pest.

Overseeing Budapest from its vantage point on Castle Hill is Buda Castle. Spectacularly lit at night, it has the best views across this attractive city steeped in World Heritage. Some unique points of interest are Heroes Square and the Museum of Terror, reminders of the city’s more turbulent past.

Much like in Vienna further up the Danube, coffee and cake is practically an institution in Budapest. And there’s nowhere better to try them than Gerbeaud - the elaborate décor alone makes this café well worth a visit.

To really feel like a local, make a trip to the thermal baths. The relaxed Gellért Baths are a triumph of Art Nouveau grandeur and, based on their sheer size, you can't miss the outdoor Széchenyi Baths. If unusual nightlife is your thing, the club nights at these baths are great fun.

With an impressive range of Budapest hotels, apartments and hostels available in this city of 2 halves, Booking.com makes it an easy choice.

Budapest is a beautiful city, but not all parts are well...

Budapest is a beautiful city, but not all parts are well kept. I have been many times and I cannot say what I like the most, because it is personal. While I avoid locations with high concentrations of tourists, this time I did go to the Citadella. Luckily there are public buses that travel up the hill although thousands of tourists wait for the costly elevator to climb up. I love walking around the city. Regarding art, as a student I always had the posters of Victor Vasarely in my dorms. When in Budapest, I always go to his museum. It is not downtown but the exhibition is beutiful and his colours put one in a good mood.

Four days in Budapest was the perfect amount of time to see...

Four days in Budapest was the perfect amount of time to see some of the city’s main attractions without feeling rushed. I started with the Szechenyi spa, with the hope that the warm pools and saunas would help with jet lag. I felt refreshed after the visit! I most enjoyed a morning walk along the Danube from the Parliament building down to Central Market Hall, which had a nice array of food and products. The Shoes on the Danube Bank was a moving memorial. My other highlights from Budapest were the Christmas Market at St. Stephen’s Basilica, Szimpla Kert, Hungarikum Bisztró, Hospital in the Rock, Fisherman’s Bastion, and the House of Terror museum.

Beautiful city, but the offer on Advent houses is overpriced. Tropical aquarium-house "Tropicarium" in the shopping center Campona, a great location for shopping and interesting for children.

3 nights were just right for a first visit.

3 nights were just right for a first visit. We have managed to see all what we wanted and walked a lot on foot. We were surprised by the number of restaurants but also by the queues for a place. Definitely plan at front and make bookings where you can. That applies for the baths and restaurants.

We spent 6 days in Budapest and filled every moment.

We spent 6 days in Budapest and filled every moment. The "Shoe Memorial" by the Danube was the most poignant; the "Terror Museum" the most instructive, and an evening concert at the Liszt Academy the most delightful. Our dinner at Meshuga was the best restaurant meal...ever.

Budapest Harmony Apartments are close to the city centre and numerous restaurants and shops, but are on a safe, quiet street. The public transport in Budapest is very good but it is a relatively small city and we mostly walked between the tourist attractions. The apartments are spacious, clean and well maintained and we would definitely return to stay here when we next visit Budapest. Sandor was a great host and gave us lots of information and advice on booking our onward travel to Vienna.

Easy to find, just a minute away from the tram that takes you to the city centre for 25 min. There is a shopping centre within 5 min drive with a car. Next to the hotel there is a winery where you can buy Hungarian sparkling wine. The rooms are good enough with spacious bathrooms and plenty of towels. The rooms have a balcony with private jacuzzi that you can use. The water temperature is 40 degrees celsius. The parking is big and free (a rare finding in Budapest).

This small apartment has everything you need for your stay in Budapest. The location is great with busses conneiing to the city centre just a short walk away. One of the best public baths with thermal springs is also really close. The apartment itself is super clean and the bed is very comfy. Check-in and out is super easy. The host is super nice, arranged for an early check-in and was overall super friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend!
