Breakfast was served each morning with amazing spread of traditional Irish breakfast. The hosts, John and Helena were absolutely amazing also James in the bar plus the rest of their friendly staff. The live music each evening was great and consisted of local talent in the area, which made for great entertainment. Overall, we loved our 6 nights stay at Danaghers and can’t wait to return in the fall. Highly recommend it and cannot thank the hosts enough for their amazing hospitality. We loved it! 😀🍀

Toward the end of our 4-day stay, I decided to self-quarantine myself and cope with a cold while the rest of the family enjoyed the sights and sites in the village. At some point the manager became aware of my status and coordinated with the kitchen to prepare some broth-heavy soup (as the attached tavern did not have any chicken noodle soup on their menu). I also liked the attached bookstore and chatting with Robert, the owner, before buying a few genealogy-related books. Perhaps the highlight of the trip was our encounter with about 10 locals at the next table in the tavern. After volunteering to take a photo of their group celebrating an 80th birthday, they provided me with a few leads in my search for some information regarding my 2g-grandfather in the 1850s. That led me to the Puddleducks Café down the street and a chance to chat with the manager (who connected me to the owner - and his brother - at the Spar station).

The friendliness, the ambiance, location, was just to wonderful, we had a very early start on Saturday morning, and Joan got up to make sure that we had breakfast before our early start, amazing, will definately be back there. What a wonderful place to spend a few nights, we were spoiled.

super quality of apartment and welcome. It is on the side of their house with complete privacy and with a parking space, garden table and chairs and absolutely great bed to sleep on Cong is just a couple of minutes away as is Ballinrobe where there is a large Tesco's to cook at home if you wish. As quiet and peaceful as you could find in Ireland

Such a central location. The cottage was perfect for a group- loads of utensils in the kitchen making it very easy to dine in and a nice open living area giving it a very cosy feel. The place was impeccably clean from top to bottom. Host was also super helpful with suggestions of places to eat etc. 10/10 stay will definitely return again. Excellent value for money.

There are lovely forest paths behind Cong Abbey that we enjoyed. It was fun to go into the pub/restaurant that was used in the old movie The Quiet Man. A lot of it was filmed in Cong. We really enjoyed John Burke’s Restaurant in nearby Clonbur. It was recommended by our host!

Cong is a beautiful historic village with its own dramatic...

Cong is a beautiful historic village with its own dramatic ruined Abbey and the extraordinarily beautiful woods adjacent to Ashford Castle. There are many lovely walking trails amidst the huge trees - that include some redwoods. Sadly, many trees were downed during the devastating Storm Eowyn in January 2025, so a number of trails, including access to Lough Corrib beach, have been blocked. Also, be aware that this is a popular tourist area and buses can disgorge large groups at any time during the day. All the more reason to stay overnight!

Beautiful village and even during off peak season the scenery and entertainment was top notch. Fans of The Quiet Man need this little village on their to-do list. We visit every year at least once, sometimes 2 or 3 times with different friends

A beautiful , well-kept little village with so much to...

A beautiful , well-kept little village with so much to explore on foot. The Abbey is free to visit and there are several river and woodland walks leading from it. Lots of wildlife to be seen, herons, ducks and even a leaping salmon! Lydons was a great place to stay and to eat in. We only stayed one night but will definitely go back to explore some more.

Beautiful village.

Beautiful village. Probably one of the most beautiful and peaceful places I have ever been. Lots to do and a good location for several excursions. The restaurants in the village were all good. The service and the food were exceptional. The boat trip on the Loch was amazing. If I were Irish, I would move to Cong. I have never felt so relaxed and at peace. If you are a Quiet Man movie fan, this is the place for you. It was an added bonus for me.

This is a very charming town.

This is a very charming town. There is a lovely little river that streams through the town and there are great little trails that are fun to walk through. There are lots of cute shops and I bought some books about Irish history while there. Of course, Cong is famous for being the film site for "The Quiet Man" which brings in lots of people . This can make parking difficult, but the town is too nice to not stop and see.

The hosts and staff were very friendly. Our room was spacious enough for 2 people with 2 large suitcases. Close enough to walk into town. The breakfasts were pleasant, but we've enjoyed far more options at other BnBs so far in Ireland.

Lovely hotel right in the middle of Cong, beside all the amenities. Late check out after a lovely breakfast was ideal. We had the deluxe room with both a bath and a shower in it, so we were spoilt for choice. Great value for money.
