The Di-Lac is an excellent choice for a place to stay in Gangtok. It has a more traditional Sikkimese home feel about it with a wonderfully friendly and helpful owner and staff - as opposed to commercial accommodations. The Di-Lac is located an ~10 minute, inexpensive, taxi ride above the main shopping and tourist area of Gangtok so one can have the hustle and bustle of the town or visiting local areas, and then retreat to the peace and calm of the Di-Lac perched high on the hillside above the town with the whole of Gangtok below. From your room balcony, the lounge, or dining area a panorama of Gangtok dwellings extends before you - to the left and right stretching out to distant hills beyond which rise the Himalayas, with only the sky above. The rooms are clean, tidy, comfortable and nicely furnished. The bedding is clean, the mattress good, the bed warm and comfortable. Di-Lac breakfast and meals can be taken in the dining area with that panoramic view - or can be taken in your room. Good wholesome food. The owner and staff are delightfully warm, friendly and helpful local people who will look after you during your stay at the Di-Lac, making you feel right at home, and will assist you with all other aspects of your time in Sikkim - arranging tours, booking vehicles, advising places to see and things to do in Gangtok and other places in Sikkim to make your stay at the Di-Lac a truly pleasant and memorable experience.

Very serene with a great view from the room. Food was just absolutely perfect and on-demand. The chef went the length to prep for us what we wanted even if it wasn't on the menu. Siddharth helped us plan our tour through the city. Anil literally escorted us to Fambong Loh when we told him the google maps location seemed inaccurate. Mohan and Sunita were very kind and helpful in each and every interaction. Rooms were squeaky clean with the smell of traditional incense every day and evening. Toiletries were on-point. Coffee was drawn from a Rancilio machine with local Bermiok beans that were absolutely delicious. Breakfast was specially made each morn. Nepali and Tibetan cuisines felt original and delicious. Laundry service was super quick. There is a waterfall right next we could hear it trickle day and night. Pizza was delicious too. Food pricing was very reasonable.

The warmth and hospitality of the local people were truly exceptional. I was particularly struck when a local student explained that even though their native language is Nepali, they make a conscious effort to speak Hindi to ensure outsiders feel at ease. This level of consideration for visitors is something I found unique and deeply appreciated.

Gangtok is a good place, everyone follows traffic rules, city is clean, people are helping nature, MGmarg has good shops to do shopping, lot's of Monasteries and other attraction are at close distance from hear, over all good place. there is not much to see in Gangtok it self but a lot with in the proximity of it.

I’m from Darjeeling, but I always love visiting Gangtok. It’s a beautiful place with warm and welcoming people. One thing that really touches me is how locals often say “Lai Lus Tapai”—a simple phrase that shows their respect and kindness toward others, even visitors from different states. It’s something I truly admire about Gangtok.

Experience the green, clean, and great hospitality of people while enjoying the chilled weather. We visited East Sikkim, which is good for 3-4 days and managed to visit most important places, apart from the ones which were closed due to snow. Its a great place to experience and should be promoted more for the betterment of the economy of East India.

Self drove from siliguri to Gangtok.

Self drove from siliguri to Gangtok. Easy enough mountain roads if you're patient. Once you reach there, get ready to walk and climb stairs to get places. Lot of development after G20 summit.

Gangtok is great, but some hotel near Mall road like...

Gangtok is great, but some hotel near Mall road like Staynest and Tara Palace are very bad, they dont respond and not providing the facilities to client and their response are very poor and they are cheater, but other properties are very good and people are very nice and place is excellent.

Amazing Hotel!!!!! Hotel Shambhala was the nicest Hotel we have stayed in throughout the entirety of our trip round India! It was very affordable and the rooms and beds were so spacious and comfortable. Our hosts were extremely welcoming and helpful. They gave us very good recommendations for what to see around Gangtok and provided us with tea, filtered water and towels. I'll definitely be coming back to this Hotel when I return to Gangtok in the future!

We arrived late in Gangtok and without prior consent our booking was shifted to another place. Upon some initial confusion and debate, we finally managed to get a cab and level this location to another hotel that we had to book online in a hurry. Wasn't a great experience when you are traveling with kids.
