Florence is a renaissance city and the streets/sidewalks can be quite challenging. The views and interesting places are worth it, though. The hotel is in the older part of Florence and close to the major attractions. I ate twice at the restaurant next door and enjoyed good wine and antipasto. The Ferragamo Museum was fascinating. Florence is so rich in monuments and art, no stay is long enough to do it justice. Unfortunately it is visited by so many tourists, queues are unavoidable even if you book ahead. 4 days as a first timer in Florence was perfect. There will still be more to do the next time back here. Make restaurant reservations in advance especially for popular spots. The Duomo was right across the street. If someone was interested in going inside I would advise them to go as early as possible because we passed by at 11:00 AM and the line was incredibly long. If you are not into art don’t go to Florence.
If you are not into art don’t go to Florence. Whatever charm the city may have is buried beneath the crowds of tourists. However, the art is amazing. Go beyond the Uffizi and the Accademia and visit the Bargello, the Orsanmichelle, and the Medici chapel. Make your reservations for early morning.
