This is a jewel of a compact, state of art, super comfortable resort offering outstanding rooms and facilities in the heart of one most fascinating -and challenging- neighborhoods of Palermo. The whole staff, starting with the owner- did everything they could to make us feel at home and let us enjoy at best. The atmosphere in this place is unique, professional and relaxed at the same time. Overall, the best hotel I have been in years.

From the moment I booked this trip to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday, until the day we left, it was a terrific experience. I need to call out Francesco, the Concierge, who went above and beyond helping to arrange a private tour guide/car for a day; and a fishing excursion, and a car transfer to Taormina when we left. He also had excellent restaurant recommendations. Back and forth emails for a couple of months prior to arrival and then when we met him on site he continued to help us navigate our stay. The whole staff was amazing! Welcoming. Remembering us when we came for breakfast, or drinks in the evening. We truly felt special and part of the 'family'. The service at Villa Igiea is overall the best I've experienced and I do stay at many 5-star/luxury properties. I am a Global Marketing Events Director for a major consulting firm and host VIP events all over the world. (Just so you know I have experience, ):-).Thank you for the royal treatment. Our suite was spacious, tasteful, so comfortable. Always kept clean, turn down service, etc. Additionally - the front desk honored my request for a French Balcony - and our view was spectacular. Meals: All were wonderful, delicious, flavorful, fresh. We happily dined with you for every meal more than once, including a very memorable dinner. Spa: Wonderful few hours being pampered by body treatments. it was heaven.

FAQs about hotels in Palermo

A Symbol of Sicily

Edgy and eclectic, Palermo is a symbol of all that Sicily stands for. From buzzing Vespas to the bustling Vucciria market, it simply brims with life.

Wonderful Palermo Cathedral glows radiantly in the Mediterranean sun. Nearby is the city’s last Sicilian Puppet Theater, and across the street is a palm-filled park housing Roman mosaics, though the best are in the archeological museum. At one end is the Norman Palace, a government building home to the fabulous Cappella Palatina, whose gold mosaics are absolutely breathtaking.

Equally magnificent are the gold mosaics lining the 12th-century Monreale Cathedral on the city’s outskirts. Wander the cloisters and note the varying columns and capitals – each pair is different.

Palermo also has fascinating churches: 2 of the oldest are 12th-century San Giovanni degli Eremeti and San Cataldo, each with red, Islamic-style domes. Gesú Church has an incredible Sicilian Baroque interior, while La Martorana’s frescoes are awe-inspiring. A street away is Quattro Canti, an intersection with a fountain in each corner.

Other attractions include the round Teatro Massimo, Mondello beach and Monte Pellegrino mountain overlooking the sea. You get fabulous views of this picnic spot as you fly into Palermo Airport before heading to your Booking.com accommodations.

Fantastic city, tons of history and architecture to see, feel and go around. This has to be a better city for history than most (I liked it better than Rome). Very chaotic and busy, don't expect tidiness or litter free environments. Feels very friendly once you get used to the hustle and bustle. Only thing that lets it down is the rubbish everywhere

Palermo is a beautiful old city with lots to explore and amazing beaches very close . The street food was great In every corner were amazing small businesses with delicious desserts and coffees in a very good price Everyone was friendly Very vivid city with lots of bars in the centre The traffic was a bit of a nightmare during the rush hours I was a bit disappointed of the fact that the city wasn’t so clean (lots of rubbish)

There is much to see in the city with a good range of high end shops and plenty of places to eat. The city of Palermo is steeped in history and has some very interesting buildings. The only down side is the filth and rubbish that is strewn across the paths once you leave the main streets. We were constantly walking over broken glass and discarded debris when out walking. Yes there is graffiti everywhere but it is not as off putting as the litter and discarded rubbish. Sadly you get the impression that the local people have just given up on trying to keep the place looking nice. But we are pleased that we visited Palermo as it was on our bucket list.

A lot of sights are within a good walking distance of the centre. Easy to get around and lots of good restaurants. Be prepared to eat late if u go off the main thoroughfare but there’s plenty of selection. The market is noisy and bustling. The musicians on the street amazing to listen too and the information at the mafia museum fascinating.

The place was very clean and we had everything we needed. The sun shades everywhere made the morning hours pleasant. The owners tried their best to make us feel welcome, though the communication upon our arrival was not easy since we don't speak Italian. We could park the car under trees within the private living area. Covered parking garage in Palermo's center is recommended, though NOT secure. It's still better than street parking due to theft danger. Relatively cheap rent and very cheap food in Sicily anywhere you go.

Located in Ballarò (downtown), next to one of the oldest street markets in Palermo, the most lively one and surely picturesque of Sicily. Nice room and bathroom, with the best breakfast in town (and the best I have tried in Sicily). And all thanks to its host, Mariella 🌞. She is a wonderful human being who makes you feel at home. I cannot describe anything else, just try it.

Gorgeous boutique hotel, styled with attention to detail. Loved the breakfast and also the welcoming “cool towels” at reception on arrival, as we’d had a hot day of driving and sightseeing to Palermo from the east of Sicily. Staff were helpful and attentive. Would definitely stay again.
