Kanazawa is a city that beautifully combines its rich history with modern charm.
Our highlights included exploring the traditional samurai district and the charming Higashi Chayamachi district.
As the kanji of Kanazawa, we also tried in local specialties like gold leaf-covered ice cream.

Kanazawa is great if you are into arts and crafts and want to buy hand crafted souvenirs. Another reason to visit is to drink sake as the city has really old distilleries. The city has a Jazz scene, I was able to visit one Jazz bar where they played records, it was excellent. It also has several amazing gardens, including one of three most amazing gardens in Japan called Kenroku-en. It apparently manages to achieve all 6 important garden principles in a single garden which is said to be extremely hard. City is walkable and have a large bus network. Another reason is that you can do day trips to Shirakawa-go and Takayama, there are many tours and they are well worth doing. Shirakawa-go is simply amazing. Finally, the Shinkansen line going to Tokyo has beautiful views.

The Castle grounds, museum of modern art, night lit botanical garden and the acquarium are excellent, and my kids also had a good time climbing the various rock formations/ sitting on a boatride to see the sea caves, and soaking in the sakura. (the latter 3 activities require a drive out of Kanazawa itself)
Make sure to visit the Aquarium! Family friendly, well curated, and very reasonably priced.
Be sure to eat at the seafood market - the sea urchin and unagi on offer will speak for itself

Kanazawa is a beautiful city.
Kanazawa is a beautiful city. The castle and park are wonderful especially with the Sakura in bloom. It is easy and cheap to get around and the food choices are excellent. We particularly enjoyed the cocktail bar Furansu - exceptional cocktails
This was a great little hotel during our few days in Kanazawa. It’s right in the Highashi Chaya district, which is lovely to wander around, and not too long a walk from major tourist sites (Kanazawa Castle, 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, and my favorite, Kenroku-en). The washer-dryer in the room worked great and was a nice bonus, and we appreciated the online guides to all of the room’s gadgets. We never figured out the tub, but loved it nonetheless! Breakfast was more western-style than Japanese, but still very good.
This Ryokan hotel is just next to two amazing sights: Kanazawa Castle and Kenrokuen Garden. The hotel provides you yukata for men and kimono for women, and you can keep them if you like (we did!).
Breakfast was good but not great. The traditional Japanese style room was excellent with a small sitting area, which was quite pleasant. The staff was excellent and made us feel quite welcome. The onsen was excellent and quite hot; the water minerally and soothing. The facility was excellent.
It was extremely close to all the places I had on my itinerary for my time in Kanazawa- walking. I took a wonderful e-bike tour with Ti & he indicated the hotel is in the fashion region. I really found it to be above my expectations. The staff were so helpful in booking me a cab to facilitate with my large luggage to train station. They were extremely helpful in planning additional things to do in Kanazawa . And the bar & food were delicious there. I loved how clean, comfortable it was.
The hotel is clean and have parking. The staff is wonderful. Ms Kim is amazing and she went out of the way to help us sort out our cell phone problem. She swt the tone for great customer service at the hotel. Both Ms. Kim and Ms, Goto ate very attentive and helpful. The hotel is close to Kanazawa station, which is convenient. It has access to many good restaurants.
Location was great - right next to the Kanazawa Castle, very close to a market, and the gardens were a short walk on the other side of the castle. The hotel was very quiet and peaceful. Free ramen from 9-11 pm was a great perk! Delicious breakfast (extra price), but all day free access to juices, teas, coffees. We loved it.
Room was spacious compared to other hotels in Japan. Location was great. Close to the market. Self service washing & drying machines. Ice maker. The Loop Tourist bus stop was only 50 meters away opposite Starbucks. Kanazawa Station approximately 800-900 meters from hotel. Could open window. Separate toilet.
I accidentally booked a smoking room for the hotel and the staff tried their best to give us a non smoking room. Staff was super helpful. The room was quite big compared to Japan standards. Conveniently located close to the market and a few highly recommended places to go to Kanazawa. Clean.
Staff excellent, the hotel was clean and fancy, the buffet breakfast was delicious, and loved the communal bath. We enjoyed a free drink of matcha and Japanese sweets. Will definitely be back next time we go visit. It felt like we were at a 5 star hotel. Thanks Agora Kanazawa.
The location is right at the A3 exit of Kanazawa station. Perfect. Walking distance to many tourist spots too.
The hotel room size was also generous.
The breakfast was sumptuous and was good to last for our Shinkansen ride to Tokyo.
I highly recommend this hotel.
The japanese breakfast is excellent. There are also lots of charging points for your electronic devices at the bedside. The room is also very clean. The hotel's onsen is a bonus. Omicho market is just across the street and kanazawa castle is a short walk away.
Very good breakfast, a selection of both Western and Japanese food. Quiet and very comfortable room, could not fault the cleanliness. The shower is sensational. Excellent and helpful staff. Would highly recommend this hotel for a stay in Kanazawa.
It is just next to the famous Omicho market. And it is within walking distance to the Kanazawa station. The room is exceptionally big and clean. Enjoy the private bathroom very much. So far it is the best hotel for my entire Japan trip.
Great location, close to everything kanazawa has to offer. This hotel is a blend of a sleek hotel and authentic ryokan tradition, so no shoes in the hotel, etc. Our room was pretty reasonably sized for japan standards, quiet and cool.
Lovely little hotel/hostel in Kanazawa. The staff, including Nina were so welcoming and helpful. We stayed in the private room and it was very comfortable. Great air conditioning to save you from Japan’s summer heat.
This small hotel was perfect for our stay in Kanazawa. The staff are wonderful and very helpful. It is near the key sites in the city and walking distance to Kanazawa Station.
Amazing hotel with a great atmosphere! Nicely designed interior and very welcoming staff. 10 min walk from the Kanazawa station. Nice Japanese breakfast.
Hotel Pacific Kanazawa was a really nice place to stay. They were welcoming, the price and location is very good and had very good coffee! I recommend!
