FAQs about hotels in Osaka

A Stronghold of Japanese Culture

At the meeting point of river and sea, huge Osaka combines forward-thinking development and sure-footed tradition. This is symbolised in its temple-like, 16th century castle, guarded by ramparts and enlivened by vibrant spring cherry blossom. Dominating the surrounding skyline is Osaka Business Park, a reminder of the city’s strong role in the Japanese economy.

However, the most striking skyscraper is the Umeda Sky Building - 2 towers connected by a rooftop terrace offering far-reaching views. The nearby Osaka and Umeda train stations are linked by underground shopping centres, while the shops of Shinsaibashi’s America Village appeal to a younger crowd. Dōtonbori’s neon lights promote more shops, as well as restaurants considered the best in Osaka. In a city touted as Japan’s culinary capital, that’s quite an accolade.

The Tsūtenkaku tower overlooks Tennōji Park, home of the Osaka Municipal Museum of Art. Another nearby park houses Shitennō-ji, one of Japan’s oldest Buddhist temples.

The Kyocera Dome Osaka is a shrine of baseball, and more thrills are at waterfront Universal Studios Japan, the country’s 2nd largest theme park. Also by the sea is Kansai International Airport, on its own artificial island.

The capsule hotel was invented in Osaka, and alongside this type of accommodation, Booking.com also offers luxury hotels with pools, cheap hostels and traditional ryokans.

Osaka is just another big city, like New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles. It doesn't quite offer the same Japanese charm that you feel in Kyoto, or even in some regions of Tokyo. The Dontonbori in the evenings is very busy, as is the Shinbashi Street Shopping District. There are tons of restaurants and shops. Expo 2025 was in progress, and although we were interested in attending, many people we met who had been there said it wasn't what they expected, with too many visitors on some days, reaching over 250,000. We did visit Universal Studios Japan, which was great, but the lines were anywhere from 60 - 120 minutes. Have patience if you choose to go!

    Osaka was a pleasant surprise.

Osaka was a pleasant surprise. We had been to Tokyo, Okayama and Kyoto and included Osaka because I was flying out from there. I regret not having spent more time here. If I had to plan another trip, I would skip Okayama and spend more time in Osaka.

We LOVED this city - lots to do, easy to explore lots of different parts of the city and my two children (14 & 12) and I really enjoyed our time here. The food is amazing and we'd thoroughly recommend going to Dotonbori and Kuromon Markets - DELICIOUS!

Osaka has changed quite a lot in the last 30 years. It's a bit overcrowded now with unrespectful tourists. Place like Namba area became very dirty. However, there are still a lot of remote location where to escape the noisy side of the city.

The location of this hotel is very good. Just a 5-minute walk from the Shin-Osaka station, Midosuji Subway line exit. Just cross the road and walk straight to enter from the back side entrance. Please refer to the pictures I attached here. This is where you need to exit from Shin-Osaka and walk towards the hotel. The hotel is an old property that has been renovated so the design and interiors are still like old Japanese hotels. It is not bad though. Space is sufficient for 2 people. WIFI runs well and the staff are helpful.

close proximity to things to do in central Osaka. Spacious property compared to others in Osaka - especially compared to hotels. This has everything we needed and the train station is a 5min walk away (to get to the platform!). I know there were others there but we never ran into any other guests, only the staff, who were so lovely when we greeted them. We are already planning our next Japan trip and will stay here when we next visit Osaka.

The hotel was reasonably easy to access, we arrived at Osaka station via bullet train, so made our way using the subway. We shared a room with our daughter, the room was a reasonable size as we are aware that many hotels in Japan are not of a large size. We used the laundry facilities and they were really good to access, and you could check using your television if a machine was available.

The hotel is in an amazing location - close to Namba stations (JR, subway, Nankai lines) so easy to navigate around Osaka. 20min walk to Dotombori area which is great at night. So many places to eat. Breakfast which was included for 2 adults was great - a mixture of Japanese and Western foods.

Α nice, cozy hotel, well located between Osaka Umeda Station and Dotonbori (about 25' οn foot in either direction). There is a subway station (Higobashi, on the Yotsubashi line) right outside, and a 7/11 across the street. The staff are very polite and helpful.
