My wife left her Hoka shoes at the hotel. Although The Villa informed us about this very promptly, we were unable to pick up the shoes because we flew home the next day. However, for a very reasonable fee, they agreed to send the shoes to us in Germany. Dear Villa team, thank you very much for this. The service at the hotel was first-class, the food was delicious, and the beer from the tap in the rooms was unique and excellent. All in all, a very nice stay and absolutely recommendable.

We loved everything — the staff’s service and explanations were excellent. It was our first time sending luggage, and they really helped us and checked everything for us. The room is spacious and large, and the location is in a central area of the city.

    Shizuoka is a hidden gem.

    Shizuoka is a hidden gem. You can stay here and get to many sightseeing destinations by rail (day trips) and come back to the relaxation of more laidback location. Locals are very pleasant and friendly, not so jaded by the over tourism of Kyoto and Osaka. We speak very limited Japanese, but were welcomed and managed in small local restaurants and Izakayas.

    Shizuoka's shinkanesen train station is packed full of interesting shops and restaurants. We absolutely loved browsing as we waited for our train. Our visit in Shizuoka was much too short. I would have like to walk through the park (Sumpu) Walk through the city and explore more of the department stores. We got to see a local tea farm but it would have been great to visit more. We tried Sushiro which was really fun and delicious and better than most of the sushi restaurants in Montreal.

    For those whose hobby is into plastic modelling, the city of Shizuoka is considered the model city of Japan. There is the annual Shizuoka hobby show that is held in the second week of May and is one of the biggest model show exhibitions in the world so hobbyist will not be disappointment.

    We hated it. We felt unsafe, boxed in.

    We hated it. We felt unsafe, boxed in. My friend is fluent in Japanese but even she was having trouble making the staff understand even small things. It’s a love hotel. Very disturbing. Sextoy magasine, prostitute magasine, locked doors that only open when you call and ask the staff to open the doors. Staff that didn’t understand. Making me pay for two rooms when giving us just one room.

    Shizuoka city has the pleasant atmosphere of a sizable city with a country feel. I love Shizuoka and of course, that big mountain is always visible in the near vicinity when it's not hanging with its cloudy mates.

    From a touristic perspective Shizuoka was just perfect for travelers who look for a more relaxing location. It was not full of tourists like you would expect seeing in Tokyo. But this also means that not everything is written or explained in english. Shizuoka is a perfect stay location when you want to visit locations like Nagoya, Hamamatsu, Mishima or similiar (so places you would usually pass with a shinkansen from Tokyo to Kyoto)

    The hotel looks new and stylish. it’s in the centre of Shizuoka city. The onsen is small, but nice. Made with new materials and with a beautiful green wall in front of the bathtub. Also during the breakfast the staff (a chef?) in the kitchen was extremely nice and he could speak English. He kindly explained us all about the dishes and recommended the best one - tonkatsu. All the food was very delicious! I’d like to come again someday.

    Excellent hotel, straight across the road from the station and walking distance to all city sights. Very kind and helpful staff held our luggage for the day and offered extra pampering face mask and toiletries for our stay. Room was perfect for an overnight stay - great bath tub, hot shower, warm room and movies available even though we didn’t use them. An amazing food market below the hotel at the station.

    I stayed in Shizuoka for 7 nights for work, the hotel was a welcome rest. The breakfast was delicious and authentic, with great service from the staff. Rooms were well equipped with everything you need, and the onsen and guest room upstairs was gorgeous (I really loved the manga collection!). Great value for money, would stay again.

    Stayed for one night to break up the trip from Hiroshima to Tokyo. Was a lovely hotel with a bar on the top floor. The views from the room were great and right next to the train station was a bonus. The rooms were spacious and had absolutely everything you need. The beds were comfortable too.

    Classic hotel. There was the biggest room in hotels we stayed in Japan with 3 huge beds. Quite and clean. They have a convenient parking arrangement so you can use this hotel for star travel point-both by car and train.
