Room: highly recommend to try their superior twin room which I honestly think is way much better than any room at the Prince Hotel - bigger size, comfy bathroom, and Netflix available on TV guys!!! Convenience: Mitsumata ropeway and the local bus stop are both right across the road - saving loads of time when riding the gondola / commuting back to Yuzawa station or to Naeba if you want to go for a 1-day trip Hospitality: delicious breakfast and dinner menu that varied every day during my stay. Coffee and sake also available at the counter, with a huge manga collection to choose from. Takuma San was also very very kind and considerate to drove me back and forth from hospitals/ train stations/ post offices, for which I really can’t thank him enough! Hope everyone enjoy your stay here, and ski safe!

The resort has great facilities. The spa is very spacious. The breakfast spread was also very good. If you drive like we do, there is ample carpark spaces. Not to mention, you could also choose to take train if you intend to drown some sake nearby.

For one, Yuzawa Kogen skii resort and cable lift is just at their backyard. Im no skii but expert, but i think if you are a beginner to intermediate - this would be perfect. Specially for kids to play in the snow. Also they have indoor and outdoor onsen which i enjoyed a lot. Bathing under the snow...❤️. They have their own shuttle bus that runs from Echigo-Yuzawa station to Hotel and vice versa. Although its like 5-8mins walk from the train station. There is also a shuttle that will bring you to all Skii Resort in front of the hotel by the road They have their own skii and snowboarding rental at basement - with free locker for every guest. And it's way cheaper compared to Gala Yuzawa. They have breakfast and dinner. But we omly opt for breakfast. But it is a variety of Western and Japanese. It's not a lot of option compare to other Hotels I've been with, but it is good, delicious and very filling. There is laundry... The staff are very helpful and speak fluent English. The hotel is quite old. It's not as hip as compared to newer hotels these days, but the its well kept, very clean, and the rooms are huge. You can perform your cartwheels. 😂 Will definitely stay here again.... All in all, it is family friendly.

We travelled for our anniversary and were upgraded to a mountain view room and it was everything you could ever imagine! The view was something out of a movie 😍 and the room was nice and spacious. The location was great, not far from the train station and the town is small enough to get around

Echigo Yuzawa is the best hidden gem in Japan even if you don't ski. Just over an hour away from Tokyo by Shinkansen, the Ekimae (train station) is a destination in itself. A Sake Onsen and tasting room, 100 choices, awesome culinary and artisanal products shopping, with the best Sushiya Tokyo (well right next door to Tokyo) has to offer along with other offerings like Awesome Tonkostu that Yuzawa is known for. I go every time I am in Japan and am never disappointed. The town is a cute blend of old and new, but as a mountain valley town just walking to your Ryokan offers Zen moment in itself. A solid vareity of Ryokans for everyone's budget. Shop owners are friendly and enjoy some conversation during the off ski season. A visit to Echigo Yuzawa should be one everyone's list, even if it is their first time to Japan. Easy to squeeze in between the trifceta of Tokyo, Kyoto & Osaka.

Surprisingly, although it is a small town, there are plenty of good restaurants and lots of outdoor activities. We could have spent a day just walking at Yuzawa Kogen region. Lovely onsen feel to the whole place. And if you miss the city, Niigata is just 40min by train (Tokyo station is just about 1.5 hours by shinkansen). There are several good restaurants and izakayas along the main street, and even at Echigo Yuzawa station, including an exquisite Italian Muran Gozzo cafe with house-made smoked salmon, pork terrine, wagyu carpaccio, seasonal wild vegetable pickles etc. The train station also has a foot bath, local produce market and supermarket. Of course the highland air is fresh and cool.

It is a snow-season oriented location and in May there are not many people around. For us Yuzawa was the choice because of the car rental being available in the region were we wanted to explore. Nippon rent-a-car offers good deals.

Yuzawa is an excellent place for winter sports and onsen.

Yuzawa is an excellent place for winter sports and onsen. It's very easy to get to by public transport and quite affordable. It can, however, get quite crowded on weekend and holidays during peak season so we were glad to have gone a little further to Naeba. During peak times, however, it could be challenging to find a place to eat so you might need to book restaurants in advance to avoid disappointment!

Liked the NASPA New Otani. Liked the Kiyosu Gorge. Found a great restaurant in Yuzawa which charged a ridiculously low price - Aus$30 - for a lovely meal. I suppose the town is a bit scruffy, but maybe that is because went in the off season. The surrounding mountains are superb, especially with the leaves turning!

It was difficult to find a restaurant in the area for dinner, but we finally found one in a neighboring town (Shiozawa). There is a well-stocked supermarket and many pharmacies for daily needs. We enjoyed spring skiing at Kagura and want to go back during the winter season when there is more snow. It's better to have your own car to get around the area.

Fantastic location just across from the JR Echigo Yuzawa station. Hotel is a little old, but the Japanese rooms are very well maintained, and the corridors have been renovated. The buffet breakfast and dinner has a very wide variety, but more importantly, of high quality! The onsen has 3 hot pools, one cold pool and a sauna. The staff is friendly and helpful. Free use of coin lockers

Spacious room that you make your own bed in Japanese style ( on the floor). There is in-room bathroom and toilet. The public bath is great for skiing days. Parking is behind the hotel with lots of spaces. There is dedicated rooms to store skiing gears and luggage on the day of your departure. Hotel offers ski lift passes for multiple ski centers at discounted price.

The breakfast and dinner buffet was really good. I liked the large onsen bath. It was nice there was a shuttle bus to/from station. The door PIN pad is a great idea, I don't have to carry hotel keys. The front desk staff was very helpful.
