This was honestly the best place I have ever stayed. I travel a lot so that's saying something. Everything was 10 out of 10. The family is truly caring, and I felt so welcome and taken care of. I actually canceled my other reservation so I could stay here and an extra few days. The food, the room, and the service were the best I received in Sri Lanka - or anywhere. Such a hidden gem.

Breakfast was amazing, it was very plentiful and the chef made everything himself, including all the little cakes and the bread. Chilli eggs with tomato was exceptional. Fruit platter was always so well presented.

The building is exceptionally beautiful! We had the luck to be upgraded to a room with garden view. The whole team was super kind and supportive. The chef prepares very delicious food, both for breakfast and for dinner, in case you chose to visit the connected beachclub across the road in the evening. Thank you for the hospitality!

Lovely location - close to the action, but not in the middle of it. Wonderful service - Ashan, who manages the entire villa is polite, helpful and friendly. The room was large, comfortable and clean.

Wow ..one of the better places we have been over the years literally around the world. And especially in Sri Lanka. Hence starts with a super refreshing fresh welcomr juice you can chose from the menu yourself. Check in fast and earlier possible than the official check in time. Whole hotel new and with a pretty classy design. Also infrastructure bat a rather very high level. Very cosy rooms with a super bathroom. The staff really extremely friendly, fast and helpful. Especially to be mentionned Amien at the reception. The breakfast simply delicious with good cafe or tea included (not always the case in Sri Lanka). Yet almost too much since two big rounds based on your menu preferences 🤪. Also the dinner delicious for a bit higher price (yet better food than a highly rated restaurant closeby). Super well located in the very center in Galle fort yet rooms all silent (on the other side of the road try tonic spa..very qualitative spa rooms and charmy colonial infrastructure with excellent massage for a fair price). Even so over 150 usd the night..its great value for money👍. Definitely a place to stay☺️!

I loved my stay. It is wonderfully relaxing - an oasis - but in reality you are only a few mins from beachbars, tourist attractions etc. But it is perfectly quiet and relaximg. Amazing infinity pool and some rooms have their own too. I loved it. Delicious food, attentive team, spa for massages, mani, pedi, facials etc. It is the perfect place to unwind and reset. The villas are big and spacious, great bed, huge shower, day bed too, desk and chair, minibar - everything that you need. Incredibly reasonable for everything that you get.

Absolutely everything! First up, the ambience! It has a unique aesthetic - very artistic. The puppets add a unique look and feel. They’ve designed and decorated the place very artistically. The rooms like something out of a fantasy - they look like rooms from a dollhouse! Very unique. Staying here was an experience in itself. Not to be missed if one is ever in Galle, Sri Lanka. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. You get service with a smile! The staff makes sure that your stay is comfortable. Dimutu, the manager, even offered us a packed breakfast on the day we were to check out early. The kitchen is an open kitchen where one can see the meals being prepared. There is a water dispenser outside the rooms for the guests to use.

A perfect location. Situated in a fort, close to very good restaurants. The breakfast is rich and hearty (fruits, fresh fruit juice, pancakes, omelet, eggs Benedict with avocado and bacon). The room is spacious and equipped with everything you need. Andrew is extremely kind and helped us a lot. A pleasant surprise was a choir from the church that sang carols to us on Christmas Eve.

Beautifully renovated building in the historic Fort area, helpful friendly staff and an excellent breakfast. The hotel surprises with nice little details, like coffee ready for you outside your room in the morning or an excellent home made ice tea as a welcome drink. It is worth staying over night within the Fort as the area is showing its magic at sunset and early in the morning.

I enjoyed my stay in Galle. The place was very clean and the environment was relaxing. It’s a good location to explore the city and enjoy the beach. The staff was friendly and helpful. The only downside was that the beds were a bit old and already broken, so it wasn’t very comfortable. If they fix that, it would be a much better stay. Overall, a nice experience and good value.

Plenty to do in Galle, well worth visiting.

Plenty to do in Galle, well worth visiting. Just DON’T use the White Queen, as the manager will make it very difficult for you to get any redress if there’s a problem (I was charged for a five night stay instead of Four, and only realised after payment had been taken-silly me!) Enjoy your stay, just elsewhere in Galle.

Absolutely filthy city.

Absolutely filthy city. Litter everywhere, all around the fort was dirty and had rubbish , plastic waste and broken bottles strewn around and piled up in bags. They should revoke the UNESCO rating for the fort so the government clean it up. It was months of rubbish or like a field after a festival and not just rubbish after a weekend. There were just a few rubbish bins around the ramparts but they were overflowing and broken By far the dirtiest city we have visited in Sri Lanka

The Galle Fort in Galle is my absolute favorite place — it has a vibe of its own. It’s completely safe at any time of the day, even for solo travelers. There’s so much history within the Fort walls to learn about and beautiful architecture to explore. The hosts at the restaurants and hotels inside the Fort are amazing, and the service is truly of international standard. The view of the Indian Ocean from the Ramparts is simply breathtaking. There are plenty of restaurants offering a wide variety of cuisines and dishes to try. Outside the Fort, I highly recommend visiting the beaches at Unawatuna, just a few kilometers from Galle City Centre. While you’re there, don’t miss the Japanese Peace Pagoda at Rumassala — you won’t regret it! Yaddehimulla Road in Unawatuna has everything from surf schools and restaurants to gem shops, gelato spots, international cuisines, and everything in between. For quick bites and essentials, SPAR Supermarket at Galle City Centre is your go-to place. You’ll find tasty rice and curry meals, ready-to-eat options, mosquito repellent, basic medical supplies, snacks, good-quality fruits, and other everyday necessities.

quaint and charming place, with a relaxed pace of life -- besides the Galle fort, peace tower, handloom factory, silk showroom, and spice garden, there lots of good places nearby with treks and forest trails-- mahamura, sinharaja, yala, ,kanneliya-- boon for nature lovers ! watch out for the leeches though !

If you're going to Galle, stay inside the Fort. Lots of charming little villas and boutique hotels where you can drop your bags and go walkabout, soaking in the colonial charm and enjoying the relaxed vibe. Great food options, live music and incredible sunsets.

Arches Fort was very welcoming providing access to our room very early when we arrived after overnight travel from the UK. The room was compact but well equipped with a nice bathroom and very cofartable bed. Good wifi. The Sri Lankan breakfast was excellent. The hotel manager put us in touch with a driver to take us to our next destination at the same rate as Uber. The location is in the centre of Galle Old Fort so there are many restaurants, shops etc nearby but our room in the rear courtyard was very quiet.

This was the best value hotel we stayed at in Sri Lanka. For the price, I expected it to be a very basic hotel but it turned out to be one of the nicest hotels we stayed at full stop (at any price). The property is really beautifully designed and the staff were amazing. It's just outside of Galle and a TukTuk into Galle will cost £1 and take only a couple of minutes. It's also right across the road from the beach. Amazing place - would highly recommend!

We cannot enough stress how much we loved staying with at this hotel. Indika is a fantastic host, he cooks the best fish, and really makes you feel at home. The location is amazing and the whole family loved it. It is 4 inutes from a turtle farm, 4 minutes from elephant riding and 20 min from Galle and really fun surfing. It is really REALLY good value from money. Would def go back next time I come to Sri Lanka,

Our room was so beautiful, just 5 minutes with Tuk Tuk from the fort but surrounded by trees and with a nice view of the ocean. The room was one of the most beautiful and comfortable we had in Sri Lanka, better than a 5 star hotel!
