You can see Lion Rock from the lovely hotel pool. The staff were really friendly, especially the manager, Sanath, who drove us to Nuwara Eliya. The cheapest beer I had in 3 weeks in Sri Lanka and the only hotel that did not charge the annoying 10% 'service charge'. Would highly recommend.

Food and drinks were lovely, we had some dinner and juice. The room was clean and comfortable, perfect size for us (we were 4 adults). Staff was very helpful and nice. The environment was beautiful, an amazing garden and pool. I would recommend this place to friends and family.

This was an excellent place. Wifi was excellent, wonderful hot shower, super clean rooms, beautiful host, great AC. Amazing food and even cooked us a beautiful pasta for lunch. Super handy to the rock and town with restaurants to eat within walking distance.

We loved our stay here. The grounds were beautiful, our room was incredibly clean with a gorgeous balcony looking across the mango orchard, and the pool was absolutely lovely. The hotel is designed so that it’s very open to the outside, so you feel like you’re in the middle of nature. We loved the decorative touches, like the wall of masks and the display of colourful bangles behind the reception desk. The whole concept of the hotel, as a women-led enterprise, is unique. This was our first hotel in Sri Lanka and it was only later that we realised how unusual it is to have so many women in these roles. It gives the hotel a calming atmosphere as all of the staff were so kind and welcoming from the moment we arrived (and lit the ceremonial peacock oil lamp!). I didn’t try the spa but my mum booked a treatment and, although a bit pricey, she loved it. The buffet breakfast was delicious, with a lot of vegan and vegetarian choices, although the dinner menu was a bit limited for vegans. We stayed two nights and wished we’d booked another, as we were so comfortable here.

Literally the best hotel in Sri Lanka for our 3 weeks trip. Just opened in mid-march '24 (we were first booking.com guests) - all equipment and supplies are brand new and good quality. Nice clean & pure design of rooms. Good breakfast. Excellent pool. Definitely worth the money. Best recommendations.

Amazing due to several reasons: - super close to sigiriya city - at the same time very quiet in a large property without any neighbors - most importantly: it felt like sleeping directly in the nature with beautiful views into the park. You can hear birds sing in the morning, we spotted peacocks and several other local animals.

I didn’t come to Sigiriya to explore the town itself, but purely for the iconic Sigiriya Rock—and it was absolutely worth it. The experience was incredible, with stunning views from the top. My friends and I climbed up for sunrise, which I highly recommend as the best time to go. Just be prepared: there are a lot of stairs—some carved directly into the rock, others metal and uneven. We visited in November just after the monsoon, so it was warm and the climb had us sweating buckets. If you plan on taking those perfect social-media photos, bring a spare T-shirt… or do what I did and let AI handle the magic! Although the ascent was tough and left us literally out of breath, the moment we reached the top made it all worth it. The views were truly breathtaking—quite fitting, since the climb already took my breath away.

Lions rock is great, we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Lions rock is great, we thoroughly enjoyed it. We stayed for two nights in the end as we got to sigiriya late. This meant we ate dinner one night at the little hut which wass great, climbed the rock, then moved on to the habarana which was also interesting to wander and eat.

The weather is very calm.

The weather is very calm. Recommended time to start climb is 5.45 AM. So worthy to watch the surroundings from top of the Sigiriya. You can learn a lot about Sigiriya. You can get a guide if you want from the entrance.

I’ll never forget the day we spent climbing Sigiriya.

I’ll never forget the day we spent climbing Sigiriya. And no wonder such a wonderful World Heritage Site kept popping up everywhere: Test it against the massive old fortress, the gorgeous frescoes, and images taken of landscapes from the summit, and there you’ll pick one of Sri Lanka’s greatest treasures. Not an easy or casual climb but certainly one that throws panoramic views so very far worth it and lucid into history at every step. Water gardens at the bottom quite worth a visit. One has to get there at dawn to avoid numerous tourists and scorching sun. Thus, in general, Sigiriya is a combination of artistic creation, engineering work of antiquity, and a miracle of nature, and a must-see site in Sri Lanka.

There is so much more to do in this area than I realised.

There is so much more to do in this area than I realised. I will definitely come back. The area is beautiful and we were sad to leave. We dud Pidurangala Rock which was fun, more of an adventurous climb than Lions Rock. It has incredible views of Lions Rock. We also did a safari in Minneriya National Park. The park was beautiful and we saw so many elephants plus lots of varieties of birds, golden jackals, monkees, mongoose, the grizzled giant squirrel, buffalo and jungle foul. We also went to Dambula Temple Caves which is very spiritual and Luckgrove Spice Gardens which was an incredible experience. Highly recommend this area.

A nice hike to view a breathe taking view.

A nice hike to view a breathe taking view. If anyone should travel to Sigiriya they should start to climb the rock at 5.30am as the ticket counters open. Wearing proper hiking or workout clothes would be the best.

The most important thing for us is cleanliness, and this hotel exceeded our expectations—it was spotless. The staff’s behavior was also exceptional—everyone was kind, welcoming, and always ready to help. The location is perfect: right by the river and within walking distance to all the main attractions in Sigiriya. If we ever come back to Sigiriya, we won’t even consider staying anywhere else—this will be our first choice. A special thank you to Mali—she is the best! So friendly and incredibly helpful. Magnificent treatment, super clean, good location. The hotel owner was really helpful and friendly at all times. Another advantage was that there were bikes available for renting. We had the best experience biking around Sigiriya and Pirindugala, watching the temples and wonderful views from the lake. 1000% recommended!
