Exelente vista y atención. Te apoyan con cualquier situación.
Aquastar was well located right on the Malecon. Easy walking distance to lots of restaurants. Yes, it was right on the beach; but, not an area nice enough to get into the water. Too much seaweed. You had to walk to a nice beach,

Nice fishermen's village with good restaurants.
Nice fishermen's village with good restaurants. Very rustic in terms of hotels and restaurants.
The beach is clean and nice, clean water. However, it does suffer from the same problem of all beaches from Cancun up to here: lots of seawater. So cleaneless will depend how often they clean the seaweed.
Overall is a place to go once; no need to return, but glad I went.
Food cost can be expensive for what they are.

Sleepy boring town with nothing to do but relax and enjoy...
Sleepy boring town with nothing to do but relax and enjoy the sea. There are a bunch of snorkeling and diving locations if you're into that.
An excellent place to slow down and forget about the world.
A few quirks:
The nearby waterpark was closed because there was no cruise ship.
Same for the dolphin park, and by extension the entire touristy cruise port, is off-limits for 'regular' tourism according to the guard at the entrance there. So you can't get your fridge magnets and tshirts from there...
Half of the town is closed when there are no cruise ships. As if regular tourism doesn't matter or is not worth working for.
The difference with restaurants, shops and tours being offered was night and day when a cruise boat docked on Sunday.
Good stuff:
A laidback atmoshphere thorughout town. Not much annoying sales people. Some decent restaurants that have a good price/quality balance.
Other than the relaxed and fun strip of mahahual there isn't much to do. Which is great if you just want to relax and enjoy some food or drinks like we did.
And for that, our trip was too short (3 nights) but with the average hotel we had and few restaurant options that were open and not overpriced, 3 nights was just right I suppose.
The ride to Mahahual is an easy one, about 60KM from the main road, and that's the time where the world literally disappears in the background as you enter and enjoy the slow pace of Mahahual.

The best part of Mahahual other than the beaches is taking a trip with "Amigos del Mar Mahahual" to the atolon "Banco del Chinchorro", to Snorkel and or scuba dive. The company is very professional and have great equipment. The place is the biggest coral reef in the caribean has a lot of history and it is amazing. It was my first time snorkeling and I am oficially a fan and i will gladly go back there!!!
The town is very calm and friendly. There are days when cruise ships arrive and it becomes noisy but entertaining. Great choice of restaurants with a surprising offer of great cuisine for diner. Yaya, Malecon 21, or the restaurant at the 40 canones Hotel

More could be done to improve Mahahual, I visited Mahahual about 15 years ago and it was quiet, peaceful and clean. I was quite disappointed in how run down it had become; it was idyllic and not crazy like Playa Del Carmen and Cancun so I wanted my husband to experience lovely beaches etc, but this wasn't meant to be.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting a truly spectacular beach that left me in awe. The beach was situated near a beautiful coral reef, and the water was crystal clear and calm, making it perfect for swimming and snorkeling. The soft, white sand was incredibly inviting, and I spent many hours lounging on the beach and soaking up the sun.
One of the things that really stood out to me about this beach was how peaceful and serene it was. Unlike some of the more crowded beaches I've visited, this one felt like a true paradise, with plenty of space to relax and unwind. The lack of waves also made it perfect for families with young children or anyone who wants to enjoy the water without worrying about getting tossed around.
Another thing that impressed me was the sheer natural beauty of the area. The coral reef was home to an incredible array of marine life, including colorful fish and sea turtles, which made for an unforgettable snorkeling experience. And with the stunning scenery all around, it was easy to forget about the outside world and just enjoy the moment.
Overall, I would highly recommend this beach to anyone looking for a peaceful and picturesque getaway. It truly is a slice of paradise that I will never forget.
Great sargasso-free beach area with comfortable sun beds and no loud music. We especially liked that they didn't cram as many loungers on it as possible like most other beach clubs do. Even when all sun beds were occupied it didn't feel crowded.
The rooms are cleaned daily and are nicely decorated. The best thing however is the location of the bungalows: They are practically ON the beach!
Also, the breakfast is good with many options.
My brother and I enjoyed our last days of our Mexico round trip here and could relax perfectly.
We loved our stay at Pachamama! We had the superior room with sea view (views were magical!) and we felt super safe and comfortable. The host was so friendly and attentive that we felt really cared for, you can see they really care about their place and ensuring that you have the best experience. The room was super clean and there was regular cleaning. The bed was super comfy. The hotel is moments from the beach and it has lots of great places to eat around it.
Unique experience, located directly by a beatiful and secluded beach which is being cleaned every day,, coral reef 50 meters from the shore, amazing views, helpful and communicative staff (english speaking), very tasty food and drinks, the best breakfasts in Mexico we have had, comfortable, spacious rooms with beatiful view on Caribbean Sea
We stayed in the King suite with sea view and the view was an absolute dream. The terrace is amazing, the bed is comfy. The location of the hotel in front of the beach is great. Overall I loved our stay, but I have to say that we got a big discount for being off season. I think the full price would have been very overpriced.
quiet, on the beach. The area is losing the development battle and the Cruise lines use the locals as their property and slave help. pretty shameful for such a pleasant local community. ADO needs several Coach Runs a day to start with and the cruise lines need to be made independent of their overwhelming influence in the area.
the room I stayed was in the typical price range of Mexican hotels… the hotel was clean, right in front of the beach, with free and easy private parking and good hot shower. The hotel also has a big patio/garden in the central area which was nice! wifi was a bit slow sometimes but quite ok..
Beautiful hotel in the Old Mexico style. nice tile, white wash walls and winding staircases. rooms are, not numbered. Rooftop splash pool with full view of sea, town and jungle. lower level has tile pool flanked by reading nook. Breakfast is done well. A mere half block to the shore!
Great location, right on the beach, alongside a fairly quiet track/road. A fair walk into Mahahual. Lovely room with sun terrace above the room. Great food from the Hotel's kitchen and inclusive breakfast excellent. Friendly helpful staff. Would have stayed longer but fully booked.
Perfect stay for two next to the beautiful beach in Mahahual. We really enjoyed the small Cabanas and the terrace in front of each. Bathrooms are very clean and the restaurant has good food for good price. Also enjoyed the gym very much :)
Beach front, the sea is clean and perfect in front of the hotel. The beach club had super comfy beds and it was included in the cost of the hotel.
The hotel debo is super cool, the rooms very clean… everything was great. Great location
Great property, very private and you have your own beach to enjoy. Very quite and relaxed. Staff is great and the restaurant good food) keeps you from having to go into town and search for something.
The hotel is clean and the rooms are big enough. Beds are comfortable.
The hotel has it's own parking lot and a (private?) beach in front of the hotel with a littel jetty.
We really enjoyed the room’s terrace over the Malecon and beach. It was nice to be able to have drinks and meals out there and sleep with the ocean breeze…
The view from our room was great. We had good wifi. Hot water in the shower. Very close to the beach. Nice room. Free parking at the hotel. Kind staff.
