FAQs about hotels in Mexico City

Aztec Capital and Vibrant Metropolis

As one of the biggest cities in the world, Mexico City could be better described as an experience than a city. Founded in 1325 by the Aztecs as Tenochtitlan, it was both destroyed and rebuilt by the Spanish in the 16th century. Nowadays, it is the capital of the United Mexican States and its most important economic and cultural center.

The city center’s cornerstone is the famous Plaza de la Constitución, commonly called Zócalo. It's surrounded by the presidential Palacio Nacional and the Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral.

The Avenida de la Reforma was built under the brief rule of Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian of Austria, while the deposed president Porfirio Díaz left a characteristic fusion of French-Mexican architecture. The 1960s saw a demographic explosion that only now is starting to be completely absorbed.

From the Chapultepec Parks and the chic Polanco, to the gay area of Zona Rosa and the Bohemian and intellectual Coyoacán: let Mexico City tell you its thousand secrets and stories.

Most of the hotels are located around the Reforma area, the Insurgentes Avenue and the Zócalo. If you’re looking for 5-star hotels in Mexico City, the modern Santa Fe area has a recently redeveloped business sector.

Mexico City is a wonderful place to visit, with so much to offer. There is an incredible variety of museums, historic and religious sites, and vibrant culture. The food is outstanding, and the people are warm, kind, and welcoming. The city is huge and traffic can be heavy, so we mainly used Uber and Didi to get around.

Like any major historical city it has so much to offer.

Like any major historical city it has so much to offer. The city is buzzing with people and there always seems to be something going on in the main square of the Presidential palace. A visit to the Antropological museum is a must along with other local attractions and especially the Belle Artes if there is something on when you are there

Mexico City is the 3rd or 4th largest city in the world.

Mexico City is the 3rd or 4th largest city in the world. There is a lot of poverty visible. We stayed in the Polanco neighborhood which is near to a lot of museums and interesting places. Traveling down to the central historical district about 9 miles away is problematic because of the traffic. Takes forever. We loved the Museum of Anthropology (in Polanco) and we loved the guided tour we took of Teotihucan pyramids which is about 25 miles away but worth it. Our tour guide was Alejandro (Alex) and the tour was sponsored by Airbnb. We highly recommend him. 4 days isn't enough to see everything, obviously. But it's worth going and coming back.

Cannot fathom the pollution, littering and shortage of public transportation, mainly buses, in a cosmopolitan and so beautiful city that is home to millions and receives millions more every day for work and education. Workers are sorely needed every day to sweep, clean, water plants, in a nutshell, maintain the beauty of its parks, streets, and promenades. Traffic is chaotic and unnecessary. We only have to address these peak hours with extra efforts.

The city is huge and pretty intense, especially around Centro Historico. Coyoacan is quieter and very nice. Bring cash! Lots of cash. Allow extra travel time around the city, particularly in rush hour. Uber is cheaper than local taxis.

We loved the local Mexican people, shared many smiles and chats wherever we went. It was so much fun to be immersed in the unique flavor and history of this amazing city. Endless things to see and do and if you do your research you will find there many safe areas to experience and explore. We will be back for sure!

The location of the hotel in regards to the historical city centre was excellent and could be reached on foot within 10 minutes. The staff were really nice and helpful during our stay and we also arranged the airport transfer with the hotel at an additional cost which was really well priced. There was also a nice free breakfast included in the cost of the room. We would stay there again the next time we stay in Mexico City.

Location is amazing, near reforma, city centre and 10 min drive to Roma and Condesa and you also have a pharmacy and convenient store near by. Room was modern and size was fine, bed was comfortable and the staff was friendly. The breakfast was good for the price but don´t expect too much, however, near the hotel there are many places to eat for cheap.

The best thing about this Hotel was the location. I was in a great area and close to lots of bars, restaurants and coffee shops etc. The pool area on the rooftop was nice, great place to chill out, however the pool was ridiculously shallow. The gym, although very basic, did provide what I needed for my time in Mexico city.

It’s the best hostel I’ve ever stayed in. They do a lot to create a guest community. If I come back to Mexico City, I will choose this hostel over any hotel. You have your privacy thanks to the bed that you can close, the area is safe. The best part is the style of the hotel, it’s very beautifully decorated
