Fantastic hotel and experience. Room exceeded my expectations. Nice and spacious, huge bathtub (can fit two easily!) and decent shower space. Nice and clean. Was blessed to get a top floor balcony view so no complaints here (view from my room attached). Breakfast spread was decent and good enough for being included in the price. We had a dinner buffet on friday, their 'Taste of Malaysia' buffet which I honestly quite enjoyed although a bit on the pricier side (RM160-180) but the food was decent. Hotel overlooks the beach and also has a pool at the front overlooking the same beach which makes a great view, good for photos also. Since the sun shines nicely on the pool its not too cold either. The staff were brilliant, attentive and are easily approached if you need help/want a chat. Front desk staff was always helpful and the pool staff were too. Overall made an amazing getaway for a week with the wife. Would return again given the opportunity. Would recommend using Grab, or use the provided shuttle from the hotel if you don't have a vehicle as it is a bit away from George Town. Shuttle times are 10am - 3 pm George Town and 6pm - 9pm Batu Ferringhi.

The hosts very welcoming and helpful. Location 5 mins from beach and 5 mins from main bus stop. Rooms clean and tidy. Convenience stores nearby as well as dozens of street food stalls. Local beach is a super spot to watch the sunset. Hiking trails nearby but many trails so be very very careful.

We were a party of three, myself, husband and adult daughter. The apartment was spacious and comfortable with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, one en suite. We spent a relaxing short break. The kitchen was well equipped and the decor beautiful. We enjoyed the pool area and we were a stones throw from the beach. There were shops and cafes within walking distance.

Beach and Fun in Penang

Batu Ferringhi is a combination of a beach resort packed with modern hotels and a tropical Asian paradise. Located in the Penang area of northern Malaysia, it is one of the biggest resorts of its kind in the country. Restaurants, shopping centres and numerous modern services and facilities are also available, along with its well-known ‘Pasar Malam’ or Night Market.

The strip along Jalan Batu Ferringhi Street is the main service area, and you’ll find a large variety of hotels on the beach, apartments and guest houses. The area can be divided in three different zones: Tanjung Bungah to the east, Batu Ferringhi itself, and the quieter Teluk Bahang to the west. Check the hotels map to see which area is the most convenient for you.

Things to do in the surroundings include the ‘Butterfly Farm’, home to a collection of thousands of beautiful specimens; and the ‘Spice Garden’, which features a lush landscape with a large variety of herbs and spices. The town is located only 16 km from the UNESCO World Heritage Site of George Town’s historic centre.

Loved the pool table at the lobby lounge! (Needed to pay for it though). The mocktails were not really good, besides the parkroyal punch. Clean pool with cool slides. Very big and spacious beds which can probably fit 4-5 people! Nothing wrong with the hotel besides the mocktails, maybe. The beach was a little disappointing (polluted). We could see black oil bottles flowing in the water with their lids off, which wasn't very pleasant. But the water sports were fun.

Batu Ferringhi Beach is a nice place to spend a few days.

Batu Ferringhi Beach is a nice place to spend a few days. You can easily walk along the shore, and although a lot of garbage washes in with the waves each day, the hotels make an effort to clean the beach regularly. The sand is firm, and the water is not clear. There are water sports available as well.

There is only one route in.

There is only one route in. Currently there is a landslide (as of 5th december 2025) which blocks one lane completely There are traffic wardens but it causes severe congestion in the morning and afternoon during peak hours Please time yourselves, and plan for extra 1 hour approx

Unfortunately, the sea was too rough to swim whilst we were there, we managed to lie on the sand and let the waves wash over us but it was far to dangerous to venture further out. I expect it is beautiful and safer when it is less stormy. The main street has some great places to eat, the place that does roti opposite The Hard Rock Cafe is excellent and there are lots of places to get a massage, we went to one called Paradise (if I remember rightly) which was nice. The night market is also excellent for food, lots of choice and I'd recommend the satay and curries from there.

Batu Ferringhi, is a great place for a relaxing holiday in the warm. The food in Penang is the big drawcard. It is great for chilling out and leaving the stress behind. The Night Markets are also great. Best of all is Long Beach Cafe, which is a market place which opens in the evening and has the best food, cheap as chips. Great restaurants everywhere. Dont forget to go to Ferringhi Walk and Bora Bora for Dinner. Food, Glorious Food.

We were up the road from Batu Ferringhi, which was nice. Batu Ferringhi is touristy and fun. We ate at the local cafes there - which is great value for money and delicious food. Western options for the kids abound there. Beach was lovely, did some parasailing. We had a car which made it really easy to move around. Its a way from Georgetown, so we found it useful to have our own transport. Renting a small car was very economical.

Great hotel on Batu Ferringhi beach. Rooms were large and comfortable which made travelling with young children easy. A short walk from restaurants, shops, and an excellent laundry service. If you’re travelling on a budget, I would highly recommend here. The staff are very helpful. Housekeeping do a fantastic job of maintaining cleanliness throughout the hotel, our room was spotless. The hotel has a nice pool complete with children’s splash park area and is very family friendly.

Breakfast was amazing, with a wide selection to provide for all different requirements. The Staff were polite & friendly and very helpful. Location was ideal, right on the beach, and close to Batu Ferringhi, if you wanted to leave the hotel. Also Penang Island and George Town were close by . The rooms were brilliant. We had balcony with a pool/beach/sunset view. The rooms were clean and spacious, with everything you could ask for. The car park was good too.

The location was perfect for us. Close to the public beach, lots of places to eat and a really good grocery store. Spacious apartment and we loved that there where fans so we could switch off the AC. I'd say it was a standard Malaysian apartment/home, if you're expecting the standard of a 5-star hotel you should stay at one. But if you're looking for a roomy place that leaves you with more spending money this is perfect.
