Absolutely fantastic motel! Extremely clean, kitchenette, comfortable beds. The cafe in the lobby is really great, with excellent customer service. We only stayed for one night between arriving in Christchurch and picking up our camper van, but we would absolutely stay again. The staff was so helpful in providing a late checkout so that we could bring the camper van to the motel to pack up instead of hauling everything to the rental office. This is a motel, not a resort hotel, as a motel it is a 10/10! Couldn’t have asked for better amenities!

Loved absolutely everything, from the well thought out design to the comfortable bed. The view from the bathtubs and even the ability to Bluetooth your own music through the room. The staff were extremely helpful from the moment I made the booking. Even organised a platter to be brought down to us to enjoy with our complimentary bottle of wine.

Dusting itself off from a series of recent earthquakes is the seriously stunning New Zealand city of Christchurch. While its old English buildings like ChristChurch Cathedral are being rebuilt, the magnificent Botanic Gardens and Hagley Park sustain its reputation as the Garden City.

Located along the Avon River, NZ’s 2nd-largest city has Victoria Square at its centre. Surrounding highlights include the Canterbury Museum and the Gothic-style Arts Centre. Sumner Beach is a favourite location for locals when the sun shines.

Out towards the spectacular harbour town of Lyttelton is the Christchurch Gondola ride where you can enjoy a sweeping view of the city.

We always love our trips to Christchurch, regularly going to watch cricket at Hagley Oval - a special and unique cricket pitch. But the City has many other options; for arts and culture as well as sport, and a diverse selection of places to eat. I've visited many times and have never been disappointed in terms of what's on offer.

Lovely walkable city, very safe and good value for money.

Lovely walkable city, very safe and good value for money. Ate on New Regent Street at a little Thai, amazing food. Enjoyed the heritage tram, Botanical Gardens and Art Gallery. Got last minute tickets to the Theatre.

The city was beautiful, cafes, bars and restaurants are within walking distance and the Avon river is one of the many attractions to sit and relax. There are bike and walking paths in and around the city so you can get to ride or stroll into all parts of this beautiful place.

The hop on hop off tram was great.

The hop on hop off tram was great. Hagley Park is very close to the accommodation. I needed to visit the library for some research - fabulous library and staff. Lots of eating places. The earthquake exhibition is a must. Very informative and moving.

Christchurch is a great city with plenty of history and things to do. I say my stay was too long simply cos I am not a city person. But for a city person, Christchurch has everything. Shopping! Food! Bars! History! People! Trams! Gardens! Definitely a fun place to visit

The hotel was just what we were looking for since we were only staying for a night to fly out of the Christchurch Airport the next morning. It was only a 5 minute walk to/from the airport but luckily also had a complimentary shuttle which we ended up using. The staff was very friendly, and there was even a scale in the lobby to weigh your bags before going to the airport. The hotel was also within walking distance to lots of restaurants and a supermarket. The room itself was very clean and had all of the amenities we needed.

My flight from Wellington back home to Christchurch was severely delayed one evening and I live 50 minutes away and was being picked up. We would not have got home until gone midnight, ugh! This was a great last minute cheap choice to have on the airport doorstep, and it meant my partner didn't have to stay up late and was able to pick me up at a normal time in the morning. I feel this could be a good choice also for an early morning flight, stay the night before.

The location is excellent as it is very near Riverside Market and Botanical Gardens. A good hotel to stay to explore Christchurch city center. It is also not far from the bus terminal where there are several buses to and from Christchurch airport. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. He allowed us to have a late check out upon request as we arrived late when we checked in.

This is our second stay at the Chateau, it was as good as the 1st time. The hotel is excellent from a location point of view, gardens, close to Hagley Park and CBD. We have stayed at other hotels in Christchurch and the Chateau by far is our preferred hotel.
