Very convenient to the Redwood Forest and cycle trails - provision of mountain bike storage excellent. Room was clean and comfortable, food excellent although a tad expensive.
VR Rotorua is enriched in ethnic history. It is at this location where the First Māori settlement was established in the region by Ihunga and his dog.

Lovely rooms. But the best part was the lovely reception staff. Particularly Angel, who went out of her way to ensure that we had a great stay. Thanks Angel!

Our experience at Hana Lodge was absolutely incredible, from the fabulous staff and personalised customer service they offer to our gorgeous room and facilities available to us.
The cleanliness was impeccable throughout and the in house dining experience was divine.
The grounds are stunning and along with the Lodge there is such an enchanting feel about the place.
We will be back in September and can't wait!!

A Volcanic Land of Wonders
Rotorua is living proof of the magnificent, and sometimes mind-boggling, might of nature. Smoking hot springs, bubbling mud pools and fast-spouting geysers give the surrounding landscape an almost other-worldly feel.
This New Zealand city sits in the Waimangu Volcanic Valley, the world’s newest geothermal hotspot. It was created after the 1886 eruption that covered Te Wairoa Buried Village, between 2 of many lakes gracing this fertile terrain. By Lake Rotorua’s shores is the luxurious Polynesian Spa with its thermal pools. Just behind in Government Gardens are the city’s best cultural offerings: the Arts Village, Tamaki Maori Village and Rotorua Museum, in an elegant former bath house.
Native animals roam in Rainbow Springs Kiwi Wildlife Park below Mount Ngongotaha, accessible via the Skyline cable car. The views while ascending make it obvious why this is called the Bay of Plenty. Tikitere Thermal Park on the opposite side of the lake is known as Hell’s Gate, but as long as you can ignore the sulphuric smell, the spas are simply heavenly.
More springs are in Whakarewarewa Thermal Reserve, whose surrounding forest is popular for mountain biking, and Wai-O-Tapu where the Champagne Pool is a striking mix of green and orange.
Booking.com’s accommodation range is as diverse as the scenery, encompassing luxury hotels, cheap hostels and motels near Rotorua Airport.

2 or 3 day stay is enough to see the most interesting sights. One of the hot pools is definitely worth a visit, probably Polynesian as they are the staple (or Wai Ariki but that's more expensive). We also loved the gondola and a buffet dinner on top of the hill in the Stratosphere restaurant. One of the maori villages is also a must, we did Whakarewarewa which was informative and the cultural dance was great to see. Waimangu valley is great.

This beautiful town has a wealth of things to do, sights to see and the people are friendly and engaging.
Lots of things to interest most if not everyone.
Ranging from adventure activities, to beautiful sights, thermal pools and spas to relax in and cultural/historical enrichment around every corner. A real treat

So much to do!
So much to do! It's become the Queenstown of the north island - lots of adventure activities. We did spend a fair bit of money, but we also had a great time, they just need some more good quality restaurants, and better coffee in the township - the best we found was out in the suburbs.
I loved our time there, especially the mountain biking - so fun. People were all friendly and helpful too. Def a gret place to visit, esp if you have tweens / bigger kids.

Rotorua was a great place to visit.
Rotorua was a great place to visit. Mitai Village, Hot beach, waimangu volcano were all interesting places to visit. If you like to hike, the 9 mile hike to hot beach and the hiking trails in the Mokaihaha Ecological area are both great hikes .
Just don't stay at AWA hotel.

As we were only doing a two day stop over to catch up with family and friends, on our way to a wedding, it was just enough to get us time to do these visits and still have time for ourselves. As were not "exploring Rotorua" we did not need extra time. Would recommend at least 4 - 5 days if you are new to the place and want to do all those sights, that Rotorua has to offer.

Rotorua is a nice clean town with plenty of general shopping available. I felt that the tourist attraction were overpriced, but everything was well organized. The vulcanic activities are quite varied and unique.
we had read mixed reviews about this place but thought we should check it out as this was the only place within our budget that offered 2 bedrooms, a kitchen and a Private Spa! we were glad we made the decision to stay here as it was beyond what we had expected. Our suite was very cosy and clean to a 5 star standard. The hotel staff were exceptionally wonderful especially Sam who catered to our every need. we will definitely be staying here again on our next trip to Rotorua
Staff were very polite and helpful, especially the staff at breakfast! They were very busy but always smiling. Buffet breakfast was plentiful and fresh. Options for hot and cold items- meats, eggs, cheeses, danishes, yogurts, juices and fresh fruit. Close location to the shops, Eat Street, Polynesian Spa. Great charm and character for a historic hotel. Our 2 bedroom suite was spacious and had upgraded bathrooms and kitchenette. Very nice toiletries provided.
Loved our 3 day stay with our family - plenty of facilities for everyone and reception team were happy to offer advice for local activities and attractions. Room was perfect size for family of 4, having a private spa bath & courtyard was an added bonus. We highly recommend this hotel for traveling families. Staff were exceptional including the cleaning staff who were always very friendly despite being super busy (we visited during peak holiday time)
Very much recommended to stay here because the staff was very helpful and nice, I didn't need to come to the receptionist, the receptionist comes to you instead. The place had a sliding thing that tells the housekeeping if you want a full service, small service, or no service which is very neat. The room was very tidy, the beds were very comfy and the pools were nice and hot. Would come back here with my family next time to Rotorua.
With all of the publicity over Fenton Street I was worried that we might be exposed to what we’d seen on TV being close to Fenton St. There was no need for worry, it was lovely and quiet. This shower had the best water pressure that we’ve come across and we’ve stayed at many hotels and motels. Staff were so accommodating they gave us options to rectify a problem and took their time with our problem despite being very busy
Nothing, it’s suppose to be 5 star but the place was old, tired looking. The vanity and toilet were rusty. There was no shampoo or conditioner provided just body soap. The wardrobe didn’t have door. The carpet was dirty and old.
This was definitely not 5 star as stated on the website. We have stayed in a lot of 5 star hotels/motel and we know what to expect. Very disappointing.
Great place to stay. The hosts were very friendly and the room was bigger than expected. Clean,Close to shops. Pool was so awesome! Heated and such a great time for myself and my family. We will definitely book again. 10/10. 5 Stars⭐It was private and perfect. We all loved our stay❤Definitely book this Motel. It's so worth it! Will be booking in again.
Clean and good motel - Price we stayed was also not expensive -
We had nice little studios with wooden decor which also felt very warm and nice --parking was very easy right outside the room - everything was great including the location as many shops and restaurants nearby
My family and kids all loved our stay in Routoura and In Tasman holiday park
The staff are amazing. The property is getting a bit tired. They charge the appropriate rate so did not expect a 5 star hotel. But the lovey staff made it a great stay.
If you want a nice clean hotel with warm and welcoming staff then the best place to stay in Rotorua is the Copthorne.
The bathroom is clean and good size, it also has an indoor plant inside. Bed sheet is white in colour, like a 5 star hotel.
It is Value for money. It is a AirBNB stay, shared the house with the host.
They even provide butter/Jam for your toast if you want.
We had to make a change of plans due to an injury and one of our party was in a w/c.
Richard was really good about working with us to make the changes that we needed.
We would highly recommend this hotel.
They treated us very kindly and professionally.
This was a perfect hotel for our family of 14 - ages 15 mos to grandparents. Easy to entertain kids - pool and playroom; adults had a bar and hot tub. Restaurant offered several options for breakfast.
Staff was very warm and helpful at all times.
The hotel is well located and has the best heated swimming pool in Rotorua.
I always stay here with family every time I travel to Rotorua.
the staff are really friendly and we had a really good time.
Everything. Perfect location. Amazing views. Everyone at the hotel made you feel special. Leanne was amazing and her daughter too. Helped us with a few things and went out of their way.
The hotel was very clean and well situated. We walked everywhere in town. We read several complaints about parking but had no issues finding a spot - and you only pay for part of the day.
Pool and location. The hotel is suitable for people on the budget. It has everything you need. Parking is off street with plenty of parking available. Great receptionist, very welcoming.
Location is downtown. Is clean and has a small gym. Breakfast is plentiful and of good variety. The restaurant is probably a better choice than the fares around the hotel.
Location was excellent. Hotel has a lovely small pool and a wonderful hot tub for private use. The manager was very kind and gave excellent customer service.
