FAQs about hotels in Manila

The City of Our Affections

With a rich mix of influences from Indian, Chinese, Spanish and American cultures, Manila is the vibrant capital of the Philippines and its cultural and economic center. Thanks to the trade with Latin America during the three centuries of Spanish colonization, Manila became an important city, known as the "Pearl of the Orient."

Don’t miss a visit to the Spanish remains in the Intramuros district. Important landmarks in the area are the Malacañan Palace, the City Hall, and the Manila Cathedral.

Rizal Park is a national icon, while the Baywalk promenade is great for enjoying the well-known city sunsets. Ermita and Malate districts are famous for the nightlife, trendy shopping and restaurants, as well as for some luxury Manila hotels. Between the promenade and the districts, its easy to see why Filipinos call Manila “The City of Our Affections,” where the people's love affairs with fashion, music, entertainment and sheer fun are on bright and beautiful display.

Divisoria is a traditional district for local shopping, bargains and typical food. Binondo is the oldest Chinatown in the world.

For hotels in Manila near the airport, Ninoy Aquino International Airport is not far from Makati City.

What Guests Said About Manila:

8.0

Manila is a big city with a lot to offer.

Manila is a big city with a lot to offer. The malls are humongous! All kinds of good-quality products are there, store or brand names that sell only their brand, for example: JBL, Sony, Samsung, etc. Well-stocked supermarkets. Places to visit there: The Ocean Park, The Rizal Park, Intramuros, lots of history here! Hire a tourist guide; he will show or explain to you a lot about the Philippines, history, colonization, and beyond! Lots of places to eat delicious local dishes. By the way, a tip is not required in the Philippines. Being accustomed to tipping all my life, of course, I tip them. If planning a trip to Manila, get the Grab app on your phone; don't use a taxi; Grab is just like Uber, very efficient, you know ahead of time the cost of the trip, etc. Polite drivers, clean vehicles, etc. By the way, folks, it is a very safe city! We did not feel any threat whatsoever while we were there, did President Duterte make the city safe? Like any big city around the world, I am sure there are areas no too safe.

The people of the Philippines are the biggest reason to visit Manila. Fun-loving and kind, they make everyday transactions memorable. Manila is an especially vibrant city. Great restsurants in Greenbelt and Glorieta as well as in Bonafacio.

This will seem petty but I’m from the USA, what establishments consider to be a table napkin is nothing more than a cocktail napkin and quite often less. The foods were very good, Sunrises were a visual blessing!

The location is close to Greenbelt shopping center, a short walk to restaurants and shops. Rooms have been renovated and are always clean, with a fridge, bottles of water etc. Staff are always friendly. The beds are comfortable and they provide plenty of pillows. Free parking is available. I've been using this hotel for many years now, it's my go to place when I have meetings in Manila. Not a lot of people know about this place, so it's like a secret venue I use for a quick and affordable stay in the heart of Makati.

As a guest who has visited all four and five star hotels in Makati during many stays in Manila, I have to say that in my opinion the Sommerset central stands out among these good hotels. Of course, every rating depends on personal preferences, but I particularly like this hotel too because of the friendliness of the staff. In general, employees in the Philippines try far more to be helpful than in many other countries. but in the summer set Central they are slightly surpassed

Great location to airport and shopping mall but quite far out from central Manila. Staff were helpful organising transport throughout our stay. There is a fantastic selection of restaurants on site or if cheaper local food is wanted, this can be reached a short stroll from the hotel.
