We spent 2 unforgettable nights at this hotel. It's just a fantastic place. Only 4 rooms with stunning views of the valley. Excellent rooms, very comfortable beds, excellent linen. The Vila was perfectly equipped with everything you need. Everything was exactly as described! Great Coffee machine coming with several capsules. Very nice pool (cold water but we entered as I was hot day) with stunning view of the river!!! Woke up early to see the river with the morning fog on top!!! I communicated with the owners via email and they respond quite fast and gave me tips re close restaurants and super. We met them afterwards (leaving on the next gouse) and they were so friendly and make sure nothing is missing. They are preparing Wine which we bought and is excellent. Pls note that Folgosa is a small place so in case you need to buy something, find supermarket on the way - Nearest supermakets are located in Peso da Régua or Armamar. Also not too many close restaurants around. We ate at local restaurant named Douro Jovem (6 min from the Vila) which was nice but I fully recommend to do barbeque in the perfect BBQ place they have there

We returned after 7 years... A wonderful place, comfortable and peaceful. The view of the river is unbeatable. And now there is a swimming pool, which wasn't there before. It was great to cool off at the end of the day. We recommend it and will most likely come back again...

Nice village. Three restaurants, one is Michelin listed. A small mini-market half way up the hill and I think that you can do wine/port tasting right in the village too. We had a fantastic view from where we stayed and based on the lay of the land, I suppose that that's the norm

We loved being in a small quiet village within easy driving...

We loved being in a small quiet village within easy driving distance to many places in the beautiful Douro valley. Only drawback might be the fact that there is only one restaurant, La Bamba, which is pretty basic. There is another one, but it is Michelin starred and booked months in advance. We drove 15 minutes or so to a recommended restaurant in Regua, but could not find parking, despite making many circuits of the area, and ended up driving back to Folgosa and La Bamba. Generally, we found parking in towns to be a challenge in Portugal, and this was October - summer is surely worse!

Folgosa is very small but at the bottom of the hill is a Michelin star restaurant! Great food, atmosphere and service. Otherwise there are only a couple of very small restaurants. It is a pleasant short drive to nearby towns/villages that have more dining options. There are so many vineyards nearby. The one right next to Folgosa - Quinta Dos Frades - provides an excellent tour of the property and tastings. At other vineyards one does not get driven around the entire property. Folgosa is a nice place to use as a base to explore the Douro Valley.
