The staff. I landed at the local airport during the major power outage that took down Spain and Portugal There was no phone connection, no restaurants and no cash machines were working When I arrived at the hotel though I found cheerful staff doing their very best to make people comfortable. I was made a sandwich, given a beer and a torch and they apologised about the lack of hot water! It’s a simple local hotel but with a great heart

Fantastic staff, especially reception manager Ivandro Lacerda, who is an excellent Trás-os-Montes guide. He told us about the region and the hotel's incredible history, about restaurants and places to see, and that the Braganca Castle's shape is a heart when you see it from the air. He knows everything about the architect who designed the hotel project and its subsequent renovations. We were also very impressed by the G restaurant, the service, the food and the whole atmosphere. After dinner, the chef gave us the paper with the menu and the names of all the restaurant team who worked for us that evening. The view to the Castle from the balconies (we stayed 2 times) is awesome. The interiors are stylish. The historic details from the 50s are perfectly restored, please pay attention to the floor at the breakfast room, to the central stairs including the tapestry. This pousada is a hidden treasure.
