Superbly hosted by the family, the beautifully restored historical property was extremely interesting and we thoroughly enjoyed staying there. The setting and location are excellent to get around the local area. The warm pool is brilliant for the kids and we all enjoyed the freshly prepared breakfast each morning.

Not every day you get to stay in a house where the owner's roots go back to Portuguese royalty :) We absolutely loved our stay in Santiago Family House - staff made us feel very welcome, communication was fast and reliable, the room and the house overall was sparkling clean, nice and comfortable. You get to use the kitchen and all it's utilities which is specially nice when arriving late or staying for a longer period. Pool was a very welcome extra after a hot day and for a morning dip. Overall a very lovely stay, both me and my husband wished we could have stayed for more than just one night.

It's a very beautiful and picturesque place! It was raining when we arrived, and it was very romantic to look out the window and hear the sound of the rain. I'm sure it's wonderful to walk there in good weather. The common area and breakfast were also very good and thoughtful. I was surprised that almost everything around was made of wood and cork, but there was no sign of mold anywhere. I would definitely go back there again. Translated with DeepL.com (free version)

Margarida was the greatest host. Very kind and helpful, she'd even prepared a fire for us to arrive to on a wet and cold evening. An absolutely beautiful house with lots of thoughtful little touches including her homemade blueberry jam which was delicious! Our new go to place to stay when we're in the area. Muito obrigada

The guesthouse Solar Alegria is in a wonderfully peaceful country village with beautiful views of the lake and surrounding countryside. Very close and convenient for the Ecopista do Vouga. A large pool to cool off in! Jenni and Hugo are the perfect hosts and made us feel immediately at home. Jenni and her team are superb chefs, something we discovered by accident as we had not planned to dine in. Delicious Italian food with fresh ingredients from the local farms.

This place positively surprised us. We did not expect such comfortable conditions in such a place. The owner turned out to be very nice. The house is fully equipped, there is even a jacuzzi! The furniture is comfortable and high quality. Everything is modern and well designed.

Sever de Vouga is a great place to visit on short trips, but...

Sever de Vouga is a great place to visit on short trips, but it's very limited in activities to do. There are no hiking / trekking trails nearby unless you pick up the car and move a bit outside of it. Its nice to have being 1h away from Porto, Aveiro and other cities. The number of restaurants in Sever de Vouga falls a bit short, justified, but the food is nice.

S do V is a town and an area.

S do V is a town and an area. We stayed in a small village so the question does not really apply. We liked the area, it was a touring base: we really loved Aveiro. We found the Portuguese people were very friendly.

Quiet location, very well-maintained apartment.

Quiet location, very well-maintained apartment. Wonderful terrace for barbecues, tranquil pool, all with views of the Vouga River. The entire team was very friendly and always attentive to our well-being.

Returning home, a pleasant surprise.

Returning home, a pleasant surprise. A very calm area with everything you need to enjoy some excellent days with family, relaxing or engaging in more sporty activities. A must-see is the Cabreia waterfall and a bike ride on the cycle path through the tunnels.

An ideal place to escape mass tourism.

An ideal place to escape mass tourism. A mix of town and country. Numerous traditional restaurants serving home-style cooking. A river beach 10 minutes from the center, and the city of Aveiro and its beaches 40 minutes away. A few buses offer access to the surrounding area, but having your own transportation is preferable.

Sever do Vouga is about constantly immersing yourself in nature and the serenity it brings. It has various cultural elements present in the different places we passed through, from blueberries to granaries. Getting around is easy.
