We ate at Colt steak & grill. Very nice place. It was easy to get around in town.
We really did't do activities. WE was there to do our women retreat meeting relaxation. The pool and spa was not working.

The city is small, so it's super easy to get around town.
The city is small, so it's super easy to get around town. There are outdoor recreational opportunities within easy drives and the Governor's mansion and the nearby downtown are great for walking and photo opportunities.
Central Dairy is super close by and a must do -- if your into great 🍨 ice cream treats

Jeff City (as the locals call it, no one calls it "Jefferson...
Jeff City (as the locals call it, no one calls it "Jefferson City") is an interesting trip. It's a state capital, but it is a relatively small city. You can get around town quickly, although its hills and proximity to the river make navigation a little tricky at times. If you're a Lewis & Clark fan, this is your town. Fun and fascinating things to do: the state capitol building; Woodland Cemetery, where Union and Confederate soldiers are buried in close proximity to each other; Central Dairy for the place the locals flock to; Missouri penitentiary museum; Missouri governors mansion. Good pizza at Arris Pizza and West Main Pizza. Nice dining that is not crazy expensive at Madison's. Classic diner fare at Oscar's (the dinner rolls are famous).

Small bustling town, lots of eats. Colton's was a mistake self inflicted. All the food we love, servings the size of our eyes but not our stomachs, such a pleasant, seems like we know each other, staff.

The Prison three hour tour. Extreme interesting. Didn’t seem like three hours at all. Would go again! The tour at the Capital. Could have stayed and looked at the painting on the walls of the Senate Lounge for a long time. Gorgeous and full of Missouri history.

My wife and I enjoyed the State Capital area.
My wife and I enjoyed the State Capital area. The Capital outside building area and grounds have all been refurbished and look amazing! A new walkway has been added just behind the water fountains and water sculptures on the Missouri River side of the Capital building. It is a beautiful walkway guiding you to a new park and the Missouri River's edge.
There are many three-hour free parking spaces back there too that you can park in easily. This was our third trip to the Capital over the last four years when we visited Missouri from Tucson Arizona.
I encourage you to take the time to see the free State Museum exhibits inside the main capital building. It is very nice and worth the 60-90 minutes you will spend exploring it.

Location of the Baymont is near the Missouri capitol building and accessible to major roads and attractions. The room was spacious, clean, with a microwave and fridge, and comfortable bed. We made a short drive to Sweet Smoke BBQ in a pretty downtown area and enjoyed a nice meal. Daily housekeeping was offered and that's a rarity these days.

The property is very clean and inviting. We’ve stayed at many hotels in Jefferson City and this one has by far been the best one yet. Friendly staff, immaculate rooms, breakfast was pretty good too. The pool was warm and relaxing. This will definitely be our go to from now on.
