Asian Tradition, French Flair and Growing Modernity
Offering a trip through delicious Vietnamese aromas, small silk shops and ancient pagodas, the streets of Ho Chi Minh City dazzle tourists with their vibrant atmosphere. Its rich culture includes beautiful French colonial palaces mixed with modern skyscrapers that show the power of Vietnam’s economic capital.
Whether you decide to visit the Notre-Dame Cathedral, the City Hall, or the Municipal Theatre, you’ll see the care shown by Saigonese people in preserving their historic legacy. On the other hand, the Haussmann-style boulevards are typically packed with small motorcycles that make every street crossing a whole new experience.
Contemporary Saigon can be seen in places like the Bitexco Financial Tower, located directly at central Ham Nghi Blvrd. Meanwhile, Saigon Centre or Zen Plaza are some of its modern shopping malls.
For a look into Vietnam’s recent history, don’t miss the Reunification Palace or the War Remnants Museum. A sunset visit to the 23rd September Park is the best way to mingle with the locals.
Indulge yourself in one of the 5-star Ho Chi Minh hotels, or stay in budget accommodation at Pham Ngu Lao Street. Don’t miss the Ho Chi Minh City accommodation deals on Booking.com before arriving at Tan Son Nhat International Airport!

Lots to see and do, Temples and museums, war sites to visit, natural areas such as Mekong Delta to visit.
Many hotels to choose from and at a fair price.
Many restaurants and eating places serving wonderful Vietnamese cuisine to choose from.
Our advice - Use suncreen and a hat. Drink bottled or boiled tap water. Wash your hands with soap or sanitiser frequently especially before eating. Be careful to eat in busy restaurants where the food doesn't sit long, be careful eating salad washed in tap water (dunk it in your boiling hot Pho! ).
Experience the long distance trains. The Lotus Express is such a wonderful journey, go for the soft berths, very comfortable.
The smaller places around central, coastal Vietnam are a breath of fresh air after the big cities of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh.

Busy and noisy.
Busy and noisy. A must see for first time Vietnam travellers. I’ve stayed before and the Central Palace is in a cool parkland setting opposite the reunification palace. Great hotel for us older generation. No noise or kids here. Superb staff and position away from continuously tooting motor bikes.

Book when you get there.
Book when you get there. I booked online and when we got there the owner of the place we booked was unavailable so NO key. Had to go elsewhere. Book when your there. Plenty of places as we found out and don't believe the "ONLY ONE ROOM LEFT" caper. Hundreds of hotels and always rooms available. I"ll NEVER take the chance to book online again.

Comparing HCM City to other destinations in Asia, I rate it...
Comparing HCM City to other destinations in Asia, I rate it highly. I last visited in 2007 and it is cleaner, more prosperous, and much more modern. Not that it was dirty or poor then. It remains the commerical and business hub of Vietnam, much more vibrant and enterprising than other parts of Vietnam.
In 2007 there remained much subtle evidence of the 'America war': tall walls around buildings, topped with spikes or barbed wire, more dirt and 60s-70s era vehicles, air conditioners, and such. While you can find that, much of it is gone. The city is re-born. The lack of evidence of sex tourism and overt pandering to Western money is very good.
But I have reservations: Hanoi has culture and class, which suits me better. Many regional cities are more relaxed but still have beauty and comfort, without the pressure and the rush. In my opinion while Ho Chi Minh City is worth seeing, it should not be the main destination for a trip to Vietnam. But I'd CERTAINLY go there before Bangkok.
It just depends what type of person you are

Use the grab app. it is a must !
Use the grab app. it is a must ! you can easily get a taxi for very good prices, additionally you can have food delivered. It is a very beautiful city in it's own way. I would recommend to keep enough cash on you as it is easier with paying than by card or credit card. people are very helpful and nice.
As for places to visit there is enough to do in the city and depends on you're preference.
Keep in mind that the temperature in this part of Vietnam does not really drop below 30 degrees Celsius in the afternoon you would want to look for a place with air conditioning. In the evening the city really comes to life and this the moment to explore some of the things outside and grab a drink.

Big, busy city
Didn't have the charm of Hanoi or Hoi An
Big, busy city
Didn't have the charm of Hanoi or Hoi An
But still worth visiting
Bên Thanh market great - but many of sellers quite aggressive, could only tolerate for short time
- definitely barter!
- or just not show much interest, and their prices will drop dramatically!
Too hot to walk as much as would have liked
Lots to see
Day trip to Mekong Delta worth doing

The hotel is very well located in District 1, close to the tourist sites. We found the hotel to be clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was very good with a wide range of Asian and European foods. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and were able to help us to arrange transport for the next leg of our journey. Our bedrooms were reasonably spacious for a city centre hotel, with decent sized en suite facilities, and we made use of both the rooftop swimming pool and the gym while we stayed. All in all, good value for money.
A cute boutique hotel with very friendly and helpful staff (free upgrade. Helped us to book our bus). Great location; walking distance to most of the famous landmarks of Ho Chi Minh City. Many coffee shops and great places to eat close by. The room was nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. Good a/c. Great wifi.
Better to arrange a pick up from the airport with the hotel; the hotel is tucked away in an alleyway so not easy to find the first time. We will definitely stay there again if we come back to Ho Chi Minh City.
Central location in district 1, close to many restaurants.
Walking distance to the main attractions of Ho Chi Minh City.
The room was clean, comfortable and spacious, with a nice bathroom with bath.
I loved the restaurant at the top floor, where every morning a rich buffet breakfast is provided. Several options, from local to American food, and lot of fresh fruits.
Professional staff, available to provide information about the services provided by the hotel, but also cheaper alternatives around it.
The hotel is just opposite of Saigon tower and very close to the walking street and Saigon river in District 1. It is decorated with an antique theme, I really liked the wooden furniture, I booked this hotel because of the antique theme it is decorated with. The reception area is awesome, aesthetically decorated. The room was very big on the sixth floor. The breakfast was awesome, the staff were very polite and respectful. I will definitely come back when I will be in Ho Chi Minh City.
Sai Gon hotel located in the heart of District 1. The hotel offers affordable accommodation with all the amenities. The hotel features a 24-hour front desk, a tour desk, and a concierge service. Staff are always willing to help with anything. There is no restaurant on site, but the hotel is conveniently located close to a variety of restaurants and cafes. The hotel is a great option for those looking for a comfortable and convenient stay in the city center.
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It is centrally located in District 1 and close to many restaurants and tourist attractions. The staff were excellent. Eager to help and a pleasure to deal with. The breakfast included is substantial and delicious. The rooftop pool is great, with a fabulous view of the city and the best way to end the day. The rooms are good, clean with a spa bath and an outdoor shower which in the heat of Saigon is actually quite fun.
The location was perfect starting point for city sights in district 1. The facilities are very good. We particularly enjoyed the gym space and though we did not use the sauna or spa they looked to be of quality as well. The room was large and comfortable with all you need. The rooftop pool was a big hit with our son and we used it daily. We would recommend a stay here and would return when back in HCMC.
Location is ideal in District 1, close to many restaurants and walking street. Within walking distance of the Cathedral, City Hall, Opera House, Bach Dang marina, and many other attractions and shopping areas.
The apartment has a washer/dryer that was very helpful during our stay. Great air conditioning.
Host was very responsive and quick to provided answers to all our questions.
Fantastic boutique hotel in a lovely, quite part of district 1. Easy walking distance to the centre of the city, and a taxi ride is only a couple of dollars. The pool was beautiful and always clean. Beds were very comfortable and the room was cleaned daily. Lots of local restaurants nearby. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you to the staff for a lovely stay.
super boutique hotel in the heart of district 1 in Ho Chi Minh City. the staff were very polite and helpful. the room was very clean. there were snacks, tea, coffee and cold refreshments in the minibar (all chargeable at the same rate as a local mini mart). at night the road is gated to vehicles making it a very quiet street at night. highly recommend.
We had a fantastic stay at Annie's place and would highly recommend it to our friends and family visiting Ho Chi Minh City. Annie was incredibly responsive and helpful, making our communication seamless. The location of the unit is perfect, with plenty of activities and attractions nearby, and it's conveniently close to District 1.
The hotel is in a great location in the middle of district 1. Personnel is really friendly, they even gave us flowers, a card and room upgrade because we visited for our honeymoon! Really kind.
The rooftop bar and mini-pool is really great as well, just to cool down and unwind after a day in the (hot) city.
It's a perfect budget-friendly hotel for staying in Ho Chi Minh City. The wifi is OK, little bit noisy but it's in the alley so it's still pretty quiet for its location (next to the Walking Street). There's an elevator, you'll get toiletries and tooth brush. We felt pretty good here. Nice owners.
It's really awesome experience so clean hotel so beautiful room as well as good staff for response and very care about guests as well as every place is so near this hotel so I really request to all please book this hotel if plan for visit HCM City Vietnam. So good rate also in this district 1.
Woody House is tucked away in a little alley, in a great location in District 1. Was quiet at night (not an easy ask in a busy city!) and the room had everything we needed. Staff was friendly and helpful (though not 24 hours, if you’re looking for that).
Hotel is situated in the very center of District 1, the heart of Ho Chi Minh City. There are many cafes, bars, restaurants and interesting spots to walk explore. You can find the notable Independence palace in just 300m away.
I really liked the staff at the hotel best. They went above & beyond to make my stay enjoyable. I also liked the location of the hotel, close to many things in Ho Chi Minh city, yet tucked away on a quiet street.
Location of the hotel was excellent, right in the heart of district 1, the breakfast was very nice .
We got upgraded to a room with a roof terrace that had amazing views of the city
Best location in Ho Chi Minh City with very reasonable price for a five star hotel. Staff always very useful and present all the time when needed. A very pleasant stay
Located in district 1, close to everything in HCMC. The location gives a contrast of the two faces of a bustling city! The common kitchen is nice with all amenities.
