The scenery was stunning both outside and inside. It truly felt like I was part of the family, the attention to detail was incredible from the welcome to send off. We will very much miss our new extended family, animals included 😁

The Diaz Ocean View is a little gem. We visited in June 2023 when it had just opened in Winter. We were greeted for breakfast by Victoria who was so excited to see us and so welcoming. Despite very few guests at the time, they laid on an exceptional breakfast (including pancakes, waffles etc) but also additional "brunch" type platters of cold meats, crackers, cheeses, all presented like a top-class restaurant - I don't usually have "savoury" for breakfast but tried their pork terrine and freshly made sauces - the Pesto was superb! We also met the restaurant manager (forget his name) and again he took the time to personally come and talk to us, ask where we were from and when we asked about the S.A curry’s, he went to the kitchen and came back with the spices to show us what goes into Durban Curry! The level of care and attention to detail by the staff was amazing. I had to get a quick picture with Victoria and her wonderful staff too. The hotel was clean, and we (4 adults) stayed in a large family room (Double and sofa bed) which was comfortable and for the price, very reasonable as we just wanted a stopover driving the garden route. The location is amazing, and our room with balcony overlooked the sea. Free parking was available in the hotel too. Overall, a great location, superb hotel with amazing staff that couldn't do enough to make you feel comfortable. Highly recommended and if we could, we would have stayed another night. Go stay at the Diaz Ocean View Hotel - you won't regret it.

We normally make use of Portao Diaz Hotel when we visit our family in Groot Brak River and George. It is need and tidy and some of the people there remember us from visiting through the years. The view over the sea from our room, is each and every time my main thing in the mornings. I love the view.

Mossel Bay is a great place to holiday and stay.

Mossel Bay is a great place to holiday and stay. All amenities are close-by : shops, entertainment, restaurants, nice little shops to browse around in. Museums are informative and showcases the history well. Getting around is easy (not during the high local holiday season). From highly adventurous activities to do for example shark cage diving, sky diving etc to lazing on the beach. During my stay the weather was perfect!

Lovely area.

Lovely area. We visited Santos Beach which is a blue flag beach. Wonderful white sand. Free parking, sun shades and toilets. We ate in the Santos Express Train cafe and were lucky enough to have a tour of the train accommodation. Very nice. We also visited Mossel Zipline, the longest zipline over the ocean, in the world. A must for thrill seekers.

It is a beautiful, still developing town by the coast..my family and I enjoyed walking along the beach and seeing fishing activities, people surfing, enjoying some well-known restaurants like Cattle Baron, Spur and other unique ones to the area. There's malls, hotels, caravan parks next to the ocean and we also went to the indoor market, where lots of interesting and beautiful things are sold, from food, to leather bags, to canvases to put on your walls. It is a peaceful, laid back & fun area. For the adventurers, there is zipline.

Mossel Bay is an ideal holiday destination for travelers seeking a mix of the following : 1. Historical exploration 2. Stunning beaches 3. High-energy outdoor activities, watersports, mountain biking, golf, hiking 4. Good restaurants, with some live music entertainment 5. Cabin living on farms away from the city We have been visiting Mossel Bay for the last 30 years and continue to be one of our favorite holiday destinations, making it one of the most underrated stops along the Garden Route.

Mossel Bay itself has so much to see and do and then you have all the little treasures on the outskirts of Mossel Bay. One that we found this weekend after visiting Mossel Bay for the last 15 years is the Butterfly Sanctuary on the R328 in Ruitersbos. Visit in summer to see the butterflies as in winter their numbers are far less. A must at the sanctuary is to meet Earle Whitely a world renowned butterfly expert.

When we arrived we got a complimentary room upgrade to a family room. The unit was incredible. There is a lounge seating area with large flat screen TV. A coffee station, lovely bathroom and a separate loft bedroom. We were right at the top of the building, what a view from the large balcony overlooking Diaz Beach and Mossel Bay from the point all the way across to Hartenbos. It was nice to watch the surfers from our balcony. Good breakfast too with very friendly and helpful staff. The only problem was I would have liked to stay longer!!

Mossel Bay itself, has maybe not the best offers of activities. However Bay Lodge offered us some relaxing days on a beautiful location on the beach. We particularly liked the rooms with sea view. The breakfast, which we ate on the terrace had gorgeous beach view, was extraordinary. There was lots of choices from the cooked breakfast menu and interesting good fresh fruit.
