Wow. This hotel goes straight to my top 5 places I've ever stayed. I've traveled a lot over the years, and stayed at cheap hostels, as well as more expensive hotels. I think Villa Colonial is just amazing and unique. First, when I arrived I was offered something to drink, showed around the hotel and told about the architecture and art. When the bossguy (I'm so sorry I can't remember your name!) took me to my room, the first thing I noticed was a clean and fresh smell. Towels and sheets smelled so good, and everything was very clean. There was a tray full of local goods, like rum, nuts, sweets and a welcome note. Over the stay, the room was very cozy and the bed with the big pillows so comfortable. I think I got a different room than I booked (not complaining), and I had my private balcony, which was a cool touch. I was going trough a hard time personally and didn't actually leave the room much, so I'm glad I chose this hotel, because it was the perfect place to just recharge, chill and be in peace. The hotel itself was a beautiful colonial building full of art, plants and nice sofas to sink to during the days. The front door was locked all the time, and I felt very safe. The breakfast was delicious with good coffee, and all the employees were super friendly and helpful. The one day I went out, bossguy gave me good tips where to go to. Altogether he seemed genuinely interested and empathetic about his guests and running the hotel. You are a gem, thank you!
