Spending a night at Lake Ihema Lodge which is perfectly positioned 8km away from the incredible Akagera National Park was a truly refreshing experience. The lodge’s location near Lake Ihema and the park offered stunning views and a peaceful ambiance, perfect for unwinding after a day of safari in the park. The highlight of my stay was definitely the rooms. Spacious, well-designed, and impeccably clean, they provided a perfect balance of comfort and nature. The décor blended seamlessly with the surroundings, and the large windows allowed me to wake up to breathtaking views of the park. Falling asleep to the distant sounds of wildlife made the experience even more magical. Not to mention the breathtaking sunrises you get to wake up to over the expanse of Lake Ihema. The staff were welcoming and attentive, ensuring that every detail of my stay was well taken care of. The meals were delicious and thoughtfully prepared, served in an open-air setting that enhanced the overall experience. Whether you’re in Akagera for a safari or simply looking for a peaceful retreat, Lake Ihema Lodges is a fantastic choice. With its comfortable and scenic accommodation, excellent service, and proximity to nature, it’s a place I’d love to return to.

Great new lodge, very nice location close to the park entrance. The rooms are very clean with nice view. Very good food and nice staff.

What a wonderful place to stay. We had a very warm welcome. The two sisters that own the guest house are thoroughly professional and nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent and honestly the best cappuccino! Sadly for us we were only there for one night but I would highly recommend it.

I really loved my stay on the island! I stayed for 3 days and it was nice and relaxing. Amazingly enough, I was the only guest the entire time I was there! The owners were wonderful and they went out of their way to make me feel welcome and treated me like family. Big shout out to my main man Jean, the manager! He went above and beyond to make sure I had a memorable stay and is a great friend! The food, service and off island experiences were fantastic (Jean is an excellent tour guide and has tons of incredible side trips for you!) The island itself is beautiful and full of life. If you want to have a unique experience in nature, yet enjoy the luxury and comfort of home, then this is the perfect place for you! For me this was the experience of a lifetime! Book yourself a few days at very least, you won’t regret it!

I spent two wonderful nights at Umurobyi Lodge in Kibuye and was deeply impressed from the very first moment. The owners gave me such a warm and genuine welcom. Their attention to every detail made my stay truly special. The full-board arrangement was perfect, with delicious meals carefully prepared and beautifully presented each day. The lodge itself is majestic yet cozy, offering a touch of luxury within a warm, family-style atmosphere. It truly feels like a home away from home. The surrounding scenery is breathtaking (Lake Kivu shimmering at sunrise, swimming cows along the shore, and the mysterious beauty of Bat Island nearby). A big thank-you to the entire team for making my stay unforgettable. I cannot wait to return!

Lovely place, well located, amazing staff, very good food, comfortable common areas and rooms, attention to detail including boot cleaning, foot massages, bed warmers, nice fireplace in room, bathrobes and slippers, tea in room, lovely garden, etc.

Comfortable room and friendly staff

Everything here was perfect, the rooms had all facilities you can ask for, clean confortable and very quiet. It is located inside the Akagera park, so searching for wildlife is just perfect as long as you are inside the park. Breakfast and dinner had a great option and the staff was wonderful throughout. There is a pool overlooking the lake and the border with Tanzania and at night the set fire to sit around and enjoy a drink in a campsite looking area. I will be back here, this is what you need after a full day of exploring the park to relax and recharge . Loved it.
