Bonus being it’s about an hour and a bit drive from Santander and Bilbao ports! Definitely hoping to return one day.

I spent one week in the apartment 'La Botella'. The best location you can imagine: in front of a beautiful gothic cathedral, in a pedestrian zone (free car parking 2 minutes walk). The aparment is amazing: very confortable bed, well equipped kitchen, heating, etc The best bars, restaurants are nearby. Friday and saturday there is some noise, but it is normal if you like to stay in the real city center.

The hotel is just perfect and very stylish as was our bedroom. The bed was huge and very comfortable. The bathroom was lovely. We didn't use the garden, but I could imagine it would be fab on a summer day for a barbecue. Breakfast was excellent, and nothing was too much trouble. I even had a cup of Twinings English Breakfast tea. We are planning a return, possibly next year, and will stay longer than one night.

The rooms at the Hospedería Palacio de Casafuerte feature charming, traditional décor. Each one comes with free Wi-Fi, flat-screen satellite TV and an iPod docking station. The house: it is historical, fantastically beautiful, and kept in a superb condition. The room was amazing. We dined in a restaurant of the same building, and it was the best steak in our lives. Breakfast was very good too. Definitely would return, if we travel again in this area.
