In the pretty market town of Ross-on-Wye, the family-run Bridge House has a large garden overlooking the river. Most rooms have views of the water or the 12th-century ruins of Wilton Castle, just 2 minutes’ walk from the building. the property was beautiful and very tastefully furnished. lamps were lit in the evenings making everywhere look cosy. The garden was gorgeous with different seating areas. Breakfasts were lovely as was the breakfast room. Kathryn and Kevin, the hosts, were lovely friendly and full of information regarding the area.

There are 10 well-appointed, purpose-designed en suite bedrooms at first and ground floor level. Free use of high speed wireless broadband is available in all areas. Extensive free parking is also available. Quiet and clean; breakfasts were excellent, staff was friendly and helpful; room was on the ground floor so no stairs to climb; and room was serviced every day.

The Royal Hotel is next to historic St Mary’s Church and a 5-minute walk from Ross on Wye's shops. The M50 motorway is 5 minutes' drive away, and The Forest of Dean is 20 minutes by car. Beautiful old coaching hotel on the hill above Ross on Wye. I only stayed for one night on the way to a friends. The staff were very helpful and friendly. There was a beautiful spacious outside balcony with many tables overlooking the river. I had an Irish coffee overlooking the sunset. Lovely food which you can have outside on the balcony or inside the comfortable dining room.

In one of Herefordshire’s prettiest villages, this charming inn offers free Wi-Fi and free parking on site. Dating back over 500 years, it still retains numerous original features like old wooden beams and a large fireplace. It was amazing. The building was from the 1400s, but nicely updated. The room was very large and very clean, with a separate sitting area and two TVs. There was also a fine restaurant on site. The staff was lovely and very helpful.

With rustic wooden-beamed frameworks, the stylish, individually designed rooms at The Feathers Hotel, Ledbury - The Coaching Inn Group each feature a flat-screen TV, an en suite bathroom, complimentary toiletries and a hairdryer. Rooms were very nice, an excellent mix of traditional and yet with nice clean and modern bathrooms. Staff were all lovely in reception and breakfast area Breakfast was very good - we had the cooked and went for a mix of full english and eggs benedict. both excellent. Great location in centre of town. Lovely warm seating area with inviting fire and comfy seats is a big plus
