Miyajima
Miyajima Guesthouse Mikuniya is a traditional Japanese-style guesthouse located on Miyajima (Itsukushima). It has a beautiful Japanese garden and a large living room, creating a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Our friendly mascot cat will welcome you! I thought this would be just a nice sleepover place and nothing more but it is so beautiful and has a very unique traditional feel that it made our stay on the island so much better. You even get free breakfast/dinner if you don't have time to eat outside and depart early in the morning/ don't manage to fetch a table in a reataurant in the evening because there is limited amount of restaurants that are open in late evening or early morning. The whole house is very authentic and the family that runs the place also offers a little souvenir shop with super cheap prices of local souvenirs, some even locally handmade. Thr staff is super nice and the xommom areas welcoming to spend the evenings in game/living room. Also had beautiful garden and amazing views from the rooms right on the sea

Combining modern design with a homely decor, Kikunoya Hotel offers both Western and Japanese-style rooms. Entertainment options include cable channels and a DVD player. Certain rooms include an en suite bathroom. Toiletries and slippers are provided for in the private and shared bathroom. Our stay at this modern hotel on Miyajima Island was fantastic from start to finish. The room was spacious, spotless, and very comfortable — a perfect place to relax after a day of exploring. Although the hotel is about a kilometer from the ferry terminal, they offer a free and very convenient transfer service, which made everything super easy. The location is excellent, just a short walk to the famous Itsukushima Shrine, the iconic torii gate, and also close to the ropeway up Mount Misen. We chose a plan with dinner and breakfast included, and the dining experience was truly exceptional — dinner was a beautifully presented multi-course fine dining experience, and breakfast was a traditional Japanese-style meal that we really enjoyed. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and check-in, check-out, and arranging the transfer were all effortless. The small public bath was a great way to relax, especially the outdoor section, which was tastefully decorated with plants and felt amazing on a chilly night after a day of hiking. Highly recommended for a peaceful and luxurious stay on Miyajima!

Miyajima
Reopened in April 2014 after renovations, Miyajima Morinoyado offers comfortable guest rooms and a spacious public bath. It is a 1-minute walk to Miyajima Aquarium and a 15-minute to Itsukushima Shrine. I got a traditional Japanese room, with a low table in the middle, low chairs and futon beds. The truth is that everything was incredible. We had all the comforts (full bathroom, with all the necessary items), very comfortable beds, good bedding, an electric kettle to prepare whatever we wanted, although even on the ground floor there was also coffee and water to serve. The facility has a public Japanese bath, which we didn't go to because it didn't catch our attention, but we saw that many people used it. To get to the place you have to walk about 20 minutes, something to keep in mind if you go with luggage. The staff at the place was incredible, excellent treatment, very friendly and predisposed. The breakfast is excellent, it is a traditional Japanese breakfast and includes a refill of tea and rice. If I go to Miyajima again, definitely I would go to this hotel.

Awesome location, superb views. Room was really spacious and very clean. Design is dated, but it has it own charm. Location is perfect for Miyajima ferry. Breakfast was tasty.
Absolutely gorgeous self contained villa. Comfortable bed, good shower, lovely outdoor bath. Well stocked self service bar. Simple check in at the ryokan down the hill - friendly service, a great dinner and a good breakfast. Just lovely. I would love to stay here for a week or more.
This accommodation was gorgeous and spacious. Our room had a lovely view. The futons were very comfortable and even though it was really cold outside, we were warm in our room. There was curry provided for dinner and it was lovely. We were lucky as the restaurants closed early there.
Room and view were excellent, shuttle service from Station was good. Certainly a grand sized hotel which looks like an 80's design, not sure when it was built. We visited in November and i guess the outside facilities, pool etc will be open and be more appealing in the summer.
The best things about this hotel is the lovely staff and very convenient location if you are on a budget. Our free breakfast was ok too and convenient. The staff were lovely to help us change our room. It is literally on the doorstep of the Miyajima ferry.
Our room was amazing and absolutely loved our room and its facilities, the view and the traditional feel, atmosphere and design of the room. We were very impressed. The veiw was incredible and having a balcony was lovely for the fresh air. The cleanliness of the room was exceptional right down to the little gift packs in the bathroom. Reception staff very friendly and even though there was a language barrier, we were able to figure things out. Loved to be in a place where there is a pool!!! It was so hot and humid.
One of the best places I have ever stayed in. The whole experience was extremely positive. The guest house provides amazing value for money. First of all, the staff is very kind and helpful. Secondly, the house is very beautiful. The design is very elegant and, as far as I can judge as a foreigner, in classical Japanese style. Thirdly, the facilities and amenities are great, including breakfast and dinner, and a traditional onsen bath! Had a great time, hope to have the opportunity to return here one day.
Lovely comfortable Japanese room. The view from the balcony was stunning. Great location for visiting Miyajima
To stay in a historic 2-story Japanese-style townhouse, on a World heritage site, what's not to like. This is a lovely traditional property with all the modern facilities that you require for your stay. Even the low door heights were not a problem for a 6"2 kiwi.
This is a really wonderful place to stay. The location is extremely convenient (just across from the pier and a ~10-15 minute walk into town centre and to the shrine). It is spacious, clean and nicely designed. The bedroom has a lovely peaceful atmosphere. We also really enjoyed the spacious shower room. We didn’t try cooking in the kitchen ourselves, but it seemed well equipped. We would love to come back someday!
