Warm and helpful staff, great hospitality, cosy and well-designed room, and impressive in-room onsen - the fine detail has exceeded my expectations. Staff volunteered to take photo in the front terrace. She got impeccable photo-shooting skills (with my iPhone 13 Pro Max) and I don’t need to touch up the photos at all. As a totally amateurish iPhone user I do have a lot to learn from her. A bit pitiful is that I didn’t read clearly the fine prints on booking.com so only breakfast was included. However, the breakfast, served in-room, was fabulous - nice portion and remarkable taste that did energise me for the long day ahead. Food is clearly better than another ryokan across the bridge that I stayed for 2 nights last time. I’ll definitely come back for the dinner. Not to mention that I miss the really really sweet team : )

So many things to like! This was by far the most spacious room with a view, that we had in Kyoto. The beds were comfortable, the room had many amenities such as pajamas, slippers, kettle and teas, mini fridge, tooth brushes, combs, soap, shampoo, etc… what I was impressed with is a personal hand written note was presented in our room. Near to travel an and buses, walking distance to main attractions. The staff at the desk were very accommodating, helped us navigate to certain places we wanted to see. Just a wonderful experience.

I left my passport, money and my wives jewellery by mistake in the safe and we checked out.The staff delivered it to the station which was exceptional and made our life much easier. I would rate that this gesture of the staff and service levels as extra ordinary.

First class experience from start to finish! Everyone working at The GrandWest were incredibly welcoming and we cannot fault their focus on customer service, whether helping us with bike rental (free for 2 hours) or providing towels/discounts, etc for the local Onsen. The breakfast was delicious and they had a great array of teas/coffees available for free. The quality of materials used in and around the hotel were sustainable and stylish and the roof garden a lovely idea. The location was ideal, a short stroll (5/10 mins) from the key locations on our itinerary in Arashiyama, which is the most gorgeous place. Thanks again to everyone at The GrandWest. 10/10

Basically, everything about this property, it's in a good location centrally to some of Kyoto's most famous landmarks. Staff were beyond pleasant and easy to deal with. The property is amazing (unfortunately, my wife wants me to recreate something similar in Australia 🤣). I couldn't recommend it highly enough, would 10/10 rebook this property.

This house is a very modern detached house. It is very clean and tidy, and all the furniture and appliances are very practical. The landlord is very warm and polite. There is a convenience store nearby, and it is not far from the JR station. The surrounding area is where mostly elderly people and children live, so it is very quiet. This house is also very close to the Arashiyama scenic spot in Sagano, which is very convenient.

Lovely house in Arashiyama, felt very spacious for a family of 4. The owner was lovely and really helpful and let us check in early and also check out a bit later. She also made sure we were OK and was able to recommend some places to go. Location was brilliant, easy walking distance to tram and train stops and Arashiyama itself. Nice kitchen and bathroom facilities.

Great stay with kind and attentive staff. Great breakfast, with views. Calm onsen. Bonus points for the yukata in the room with a guide how to wear, and how to tie the obi. The Arashiyama area is lively in the day, during the evenings and night it is very calm and you can barely see anyone outside, which adds to the vibe but if you want some late night snacks just know this.

Attractively set in the Nishikyo Ward district of Kyoto, Riverside Arashiyama is set 3.5 km from Otagi Nenbutsu-ji Temple, 4.7 km from Katsura Imperial Villa and 7.9 km from Nijo Castle.

Extra friendly. I accidentally double booked a room and they were able to correct it without us paying the cancellation cost. Free breakfast. Clean, good location if you want to visit Arashiyama, and the moss temple. Good connection (a direct bus ~40 minutes) to Kyoto station. Near bus and train station. They even had a restroom for leisure. It feels that it’s most for people who travel with pets since there are a lot of dog treats and dog theme.
