We needed to spend a first night in Iceland on our way to the East and chose this place for its affordability (we stayed in the pods) and good location. We were not disappointed. Staff was extremely friendly and flexible. We hiked a bit in the vicinity (troll walk, waterfall) before an excellent dinner - we recommend the "duo" menus. Sleep was comfortable enough in the pods - they are small but cosy and warm. Luck was on our side with some northern lights that night.

Located next to Lake Blundsvatn, this guest house is 15 minutes’ drive off Iceland’s Ring Road.

This was the best hotel during our one week stay in Iceland. It is new and very clean. The breakfast has great choices, also scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage (not usual in Iceland) The dinner was also great in the restaurant with beautiful views. The room price was really good compared to other hotels. There is a nice goat farm near, it is worth to visit. If you are in this area, this is the hotel to stay in.

The Hvítá Inn by Ourhotels is a recently renovated guest house in Bær, where guests can make the most of its garden and bar.

Incredibly friendly staff, immaculate spotless clean, very cosy and warm (i forgot it was winter outside), very considerate of guests and travellers- provide coffee, tea, milk, etc. large comfy common space to do some reading and play board games. Oh and easy booking with detailed instructions. Highly recommended.

Fosshotel Reykholt is only a few minutes’ drive from the hot springs of Deildartunguhver and the Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls. It offers free parking and WiFi.

Foss hotels are highly recommended by us after our trip to Iceland. Their locations are in the outskirts but at a convenient distance from the nearest town. Clean rooms, easy check in, great locations, nice breakfast and friendly staff- what more could you ask for. Also, value for money 😎
