It was more fancy than I thought it would be, truly amazing. The Japanese style room and the public bathing area were both a fantastic experience. Close to the beach, with quite a few restaurants and stores around, direct bus to the station. There's a fridge, a kettle, some welcome teas and snacks, and a yukata for after the bath! They have three sizes. Highly recommend.

The location: the last beach front hotel of Kaike Onsen, with unspoiled sea and mountain view. Care and attention to detail: your suitcase gets cleaned before you enter the lobby. The lift has a tatami floor. Mine was a late, and inexpensive booking. There are also rooms with private baths. My room was a delight. And a few steps from the hotel, Fado, a creative food café that serves the finest food ever for just a few euros. A great place for cyclists. I certainly shall return.

Ryokan Koyokan Is a rare find set in an amazing forest location alongside the Kiyomizu-dera temple. We loved the absolute peace and quiet after a few hectic days in some of Japan’s big cities. The Ryokan is run by three generations of the same family, with the first member of the fourth generation a recent addition. Food is an amazing combination of mainly vegetarian dishes with some fish. Nearest railway station is at Yasugi from where you can get a taxi. We opted though to hire a car at Matsue Station for the half hour drive, this also meant easy travel to the nearby Adachi Museum of Art. Definitely recommend Koyokan for a relaxing experience in an amazing location.

What an amazing stay. The perfect small village Japanese experience. The staff were so welcoming and the location was beautiful. Day 1 we explored Mihonoseki, day 2 was an easy drive to Yuushien gardens, Matsue Castle and the Adachi Museum of Art. Traditional rooms with a view over the bay. The dinner and breakfasts were outstanding...a must if you love seafood! We highly recommend staying at Fukumakan - it has been a highlight if our trip!

The Gold Beach House is a recently renovated villa in Daisen, where guests can make the most of its garden and terrace.

Very beautiful place. the beds are very comfortable, and the hostel is very clean. Very nice human experience, the owner takes the time to chat with you, and to share his knowledge of the region and Japan. very nice experience! We were so looked after from the moment we arrived to when we departed. We chose to stay here to have our last night in Japan to be in the most extraordinary setting and to have access to the Adachi Museum. The room was stunningly beautiful, comfortable and we loved the private onsen. The amenities provided were great too. All of our meals, dinner and breakfast, were a delight to the taste buds as well as visually pleasing.
