The staff were lovely esp as we do not speak Japanese they tried really hard to communicate. The meals were exceptional - delicious, light, full of flavour incorporating many local ingredients. Our room was traditional style and this was exactly the experience we wanted

I stayed in a beautiful japanese-style room on the 2nd floor with private semi-open air bath. The room has all the free amenities you could wish for including toothbrush, hairbrush, beer, snacks, shampoo, socks, etc. and a yukata to wear around. The futon was the most comfortable bed I've slept on, the views from the room & outdoor bath were gorgeous. When I wasn't walking the nearby trails or popping into the town I was relaxing in the room or bath with sake. This was a welcome reset in the middle of an active vacation. This is my second time staying at zagyosoh and I admit a big reason I came back was due to the Japanese restaurant and it did not disappoint! I appreciated the care, attention to detail, service, and most of all the deliciousness. We requested vegetarian and were impressed with the variety in each meal across 2 nights stay.

Set less than 1 km from Shuzen-ji Temple, Oni no Sumika offers 5-star accommodation in Izu and features a garden. Private parking is available on site at this recently renovated property.

When we arrived we were welcomed with matcha tea and a traditional desert which were refreshing after a very long journey. The room was outstanding, exactly like in the pictures, loved the traditional Japanese style. In the room we had everything we needed from toiletries to coffee maker. The room was clean, had AC in case we were cold, the bed was comfy and it had a view to the garden. The Ryokan was quiet, perfect for a few days of relaxation. We especially loved the yukatas. The view to the central garden was everything we had hoped for. The main star for us was the private onsen which was accessible directly from the shower. The kaiseki breakfast and dinner were amazing. The staff even adapted the menu to our dietary needs, for example we couldn't eat raw fish and they were happy to change some of the ingredients. The restaurant is cozy and elegant and all the tables have privacy. The staff was kind and helpful throughout our entire stay. The neighborhood was quiet, clean. There are several hikes you can take in the nearby woods. From some of them you can even see Mount Fuji. A true Ryokan experience.

very new hotel, stayed at a room with a private bath on the balcony, view from the balcony was amazing and the overall mood was perfect for a romantic get away. 1.great set of amenities, bottled water, local beer, juices made locally as well as Japanese tea and the standard keurig type coffees. 2.great staff, very attentive and have staff who can speak English to a good degree who are knowledgable about the area 3.breakfast buffet very good selection of juices and foods. 4.amazing onsen style bath on the 10th floor. 5.don’t know if it was just part of the room I got but the taxi from the station to the hotel was comped 6.greeted with Japanese traditional sweets and tea while we waited for check in and seated in the lobby. 7.if you are going at atami firework season would be an absolutely perfect place to stay to see the fireworks. view is amazing from the upper floors 8. good breakfast buffet, with a range from Japanese traditional breakfasts, western style intercontinental and full English, an egg station where you can have your eggs any way you like including eggs Benedict, as well as a little Chinese option from the Chinese restaurant in the hotel and a good cold selection of desserts, salads, yoghurts, fruits, and cold cuts
