I really made the right choice with this homestay in Pingyao! The location is absolutely a hidden gem—just a two-minute walk gets you to Rishengchang Bank, so there’s no need to get up early to soak in the Jin merchant culture. It’s super convenient to head back for a break after visiting the attractions. What’s more, the surrounding area is bustling with life. When you stroll out in the evening, the lanterns light up, and old shops and street food stalls are right in front of you, full of that lively, authentic vibe. No need to hunt for places to eat; just step into any spot, and it’s sure to be delicious. The biggest surprise, though, is the service here—they truly take care of every little detail. When I checked in, the owner warmly introduced local attractions, even telling me which shop has the most authentic Pingyao beef and the best time to visit Rishengchang to avoid crowds. That kind of thoughtful care makes the whole trip feel so warm. I’ll definitely stay here again when I come back to Pingyao. Great location, amazing atmosphere, and service that’s second to none—highly recommended!

Shanxi Merchant Mansion is ideaal gelegen in de wijk Pingyao Ancient City in Pingyao, en bevindt zich op 4 minuten lopen van Rishengchang Former Bank, 400 meter van Pingyao Ancient City Ticket Office... Everything! Very beautiful traditional courtyard mansion hotel in the heart of the ancient city. The room was very well appointed and comfortable, with a lot of nice touches. The breakfast was delicious. The staff were superb, very attentive and helpful. They’ve offered free pick up and drop off to the train station, which was very convenient. They gave us excellent suggestions for eating places and attractions. They help us to organise our laundry. And more and more! If ever back in Pingyao we will definitely stay here again!

JW Marriott Hotel Taiyuan ligt in Taiyuan, op 4,2 km van Shanxi University, en biedt uitzicht op de stad. We travelled in a group of 3 pax and requested for an additional bed; we were very happy to see this already arranged by the time we checked in after a long flight and given an upgrade to the executive size. Room was clean, spacious and bedding comfortable with a Nespresso machine in the room. We also enjoyed the diverse spread at breakfast - with lots of local fare and a good balance of non- local to choose from. We also appreciated the amazing speed of the staff who responded to our requests with friendliness and alacrity - the concierge desk, the bellboys and the ladies at the breakfast counters were very helpful during our stay. Highly recommended for a comfortable stay in Taiyuan

The hotel is located in a very representative part of the city, with the river boulevard, a large shopping gallery, a park, and a plaza with museums and a concert hall all nearby. Taiyuan does not have good public transport, so taxis are the only viable option from the railway stations. The room is spacious and offers the quality one would expect at this price and star level. The staff speak passable English – something that is, unfortunately, becoming increasingly rare in China these days.

The location is really nice, in the old city. The staff was amazing, very helpful and nice, made us feel at home. The room was clean and confortable. Breakfast was also good, american style.

Jing's Residence is een verborgen juweeltje in de oude ommuurde stad Pingyao, die op de Werelderfgoedlijst van UNESCO staat. A magnificent hotel, ideally located. The staff is lovely and very kind. Wanda Vista Taiyuan ligt op slechts 5 minuten lopen van Wanda Square, de Christianity-kerk en het Longtan-meer. Beautiful and clean room with lots of amenities. The view is amazing and close to a mall with good food options. Also cute market nearby :) Very good option to stay!
