Breakfast is served every morning at the property or in the privacy of your room. Light lunches, picnics, dinners, barbecues or wine tastings can be arranged. Just wow! The manager made a magnificent effort to make us feel at home. The food was yummy, and the room was spectacular.

Decorated in natural colours the rooms come fitted with a flat-screen satellite TV, kitchenette and en suite bathroom. All rooms have a bath and a shower. You can enjoy views of the sea from specific public areas and certain rooms and balconies. This hotel is a true gem! Right on the beautiful Grotto Beach it is a slice of paradise. We stayed in the beautiful Southern Right Suite, and a suite is is!! The sliding glass doors open to the beach, the breakfast is served on the terrace with views in the beautiful garden. In the evening you enter your room to a burning fire and sit with a sherry watching the fire and listening to the waves. In walking distance is a nice restaurant you can walk to on the beach. The pool is small, but heated and adds up to the perfect experience.

The modern and spacious garden suites offer designer bathrooms, free WiFi and air conditioning. Some of the suites have waterbeds, a spa bath and a fireplace.

De Kloof Luxury Estate has a koi pond, and a dam with geese and ducks. The Bontebok National Park is 7 km away and Swellendam Golf Course can be reached within 5 minutes by car. It’s an absolute gem! This boutique hotel is truly beautiful — the entire property is stunning. We stayed in a duplex room with a gorgeous view, and I was pleasantly surprised to find a complimentary bottle of wine waiting for us. The breakfast was also exceptional — fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented.

This premium hotel is short drive from the Hemel-en-Arde Valley where guests can visit top class wine estates. Let me start this review with a little spoiler: we had originally booked just one night, as a stopover on our road trip along the Garden Route. Well, barely 20 minutes after our arrival — after the tour of our room and the entire hotel, all the way to the terrace with that breathtaking view — we booked an extra night. It was love at first sight with Birkenhead House! What a hotel! How often do you still see that these days, by the way: people taking the time to show you not just your room, but the whole hotel? You can really feel how proud everyone here is — and rightly so! Having all meals and drinks included in the rate is also an incredible asset. And rest assured, no crowded buffets here, but friendly and discreet table service for your meals, as well as in the lounges or out on the terrace for a drink. Top-notch! Oh, and excellent beds too, featuring the best sleep aid in the world: the sound of the ocean! It’s actually that unique blend of the true boutique hotel atmosphere (a term that’s often overused but absolutely fitting here), the in-cre-di-ble location perched on the cliffs with (literally!) views of breaching whales behind the surfers, the intimacy, the delicious food & drinks, the stunning views from almost every spot, and — above all! — the wonderful staff, that make this hotel so exceptional. A huge thank you to the entire team for making our stay at Birkenhead House an absolute highlight of our trip! (...and thank God our room was available for that extra night!) :-)

Grootbos Private Nature Reserve offers luxury accommodation featuring spectacular views of ancient forests and the whale watching haven of Walker Bay, just a 30-minute drive from Hermanus.

The air-conditioned suites of Grootbos feature floor-to-ceiling windows, making the suites light and airy. All suites offer a spacious lounge with a cosy fireplace, satellite TV and a DVD player, and a private wooden deck. Incredible views and amazing design. The cottage was very well thought out with a living room, separate bedroom, and connecting outdoor space. Facilities were very thoughtful — outlets everywhere, functional bathroom, etc. Food was very good.

Jamani Restaurant offers international and contemporary South African cuisine. Drinks, light meals and cocktails can be enjoyed at Barnabas Bar, overlooking the pool. Personalisation and attention to detail for wedding anniversary. Excellent job to Soli and his team.

Located in Hermanus, 28 km from Mt Hebron Nature Reserve, Grand Lux Boutique Manor provides accommodation with a fitness centre, free private parking, a garden and a shared lounge. This 5-star hotel offers a 24-hour front desk, a business centre and free WiFi. Some units at the property include a terrace with pool view. The hotel staff (especially Jainesha -I hope I spelled her name correctly!) were very nice and professional. I got a massage at the hotel and it was a very good experience too. Highly recommended this hotel for anyone looking for a high quality hotel and welcoming staff.
