I love the Relais Ducale - obviously its location in Gubbio is unbeatable, especially the rooms like mine with sweeping views of the old city. The rooms are a bit old fashioned but comfortable and attractive nonetheless. The staff are always charming and helpful. The building is fascinating with its multiple gardens on multiple levels. The connections to a famous Italian TV detective series, which was at one time filmed around here, are amusing. There is some bar food, and no restaurant, but the hotel has two sister restaurants not far away, both brilliant, albeit fairly expensive. Breakfast on the square outside in summer is a treat like no other; but the inside breakfast room is fine & characterful too. Breakfast itself is good Italian basic, no frills but fine.

The property was just like in the movies. A beautiful Villa, where we had the room with the only balcony, perfect for sunset views and a vino. A wishing well outside near the Church, just outside the Villa. We loved our stay here. Maria, the kitchen staff at breakfast was lovely and her home cooked eggs had us asking for a second plate. Excellent.

The host was very friendly and helpful - he even came to find us when we couldn't find the property. He went above and beyond to help us. All rooms were very spacious It was nice to have a pool, well kept garden and own outdoor space. It was an attractive location. Good location if you're visiting Gubbio
