My recent journey led me to the Hotel de la Poste, a storied establishment managed by the ever-charismatic Julien Cohen. The Hotel de la Poste is much more than a place to rest—it's a living testament to Avallon’s vibrant history. Founded centuries ago as a stop for travelers and dignitaries alike, the hotel has hosted everyone from literary figures to royalty. Its walls echo with stories of grand celebrations and whispered secrets, giving every guest the sense of stepping into a narrative that continues to unfold. The rooms at Hotel de la Poste are a masterclass in blending historical charm with contemporary luxury. Each suite is individually decorated, featuring elegant French furnishings, sumptuous fabrics, and thoughtful touches that evoke a sense of timeless beauty. Modern amenities—such as high-speed Wi-Fi, climate control, and a state-of-the-art bathroom—were seamlessly integrated, offering every comfort without sacrificing character. A particularly memorable encounter was meeting Julien at his antique shop, Maison des Brocanteurs. The sense of family and welcome permeated every interaction, making my husband and me feel not just like a guest, but cherished friends.

We stayed in this penthouse and fell in love with it from the very first moment. 🧡 The apartment is bright, cozy, and thought through down to the smallest detail – from the dishes and textiles to all the little everyday things that people usually forget about, but here everything is already there. A special highlight is the terrace/balcony: in the morning you can enjoy your coffee with a view, in the evening a glass of wine in complete peace and quiet. It doesn’t feel like a typical rental place, but more like staying at good friends’ home. Everything was perfectly clean, the beds were very comfortable, and all the appliances worked flawlessly. The area is quiet, yet everything you need is close by – supermarkets, cafés, public transport. Getting to the city center is easy. We would especially like to mention the hosts: very attentive, quick to respond to messages, flexible with requests, and they genuinely care about their guests’ comfort. That’s rare to find nowadays. We would be absolutely happy to come back and can warmly recommend this penthouse to anyone who is not just looking for a place to sleep, but a place to truly relax and feel at home.

The location was superb, 2-5 min walk to the main square, bakery, shops, etc
