The staff are friendly and so helpful. They even called ahead for us to see if some things we wanted to do were open. We can’t wait to come back!

Oh dear I starts to missed the place so much 😄

One of the most amazing experiences you can have in Japan. Go out of your way to stay here, get early and leave late to explore. Food, bedding, baths, atmosphere, staff. Everything perfection.

The onsen areas with warm water are wonderfull, so relaxing and the atmosfere is beautiful. Enjoy the warm water while looking at the sorrounding nature and mountain is a unforgetable experience. the dinner was very well organised and with lots of japanese deliciuos food. The breakfast could be a little too rich for a European citisens but also good. The employees are welcoming and they are really caring about the guests. It is worth the 2 buses rides to get here :)

Kane Midori ligt op slechts 3 minuten lopen van de beroemde warmwaterbron Yubatake en biedt massages en eigen warmwaterbronnen. De Japanse kamers hebben futonbedden en een westerse badkamer. The staff was the most outstanding, polite staff I've ever had the plesaure to be treated with. This is what Japanese hospitality is like. I truly respect it. The rooms were big enough and very clean. The hotel in general was very well kept and the Japanese astethic was great. We also stayed in a private Onsen of the hotel for an additional charge, which was totally worth it. It was an outside Onsen and it was snowing - truly romantic. The price for value is excellent and the location is great too. Just a 3 minute walk to the city center.

Shima Onsen Kashiwaya Ryokan is gelegen in Nakanojo, op 48 km van Naeba skioord, en biedt accommodatie met gratis fietsen, gratis privéparkeren en een terras. Perfect little ryokan, small number of rooms which makes the service more personal and warm. Both dinner and breakfast were exceptional. Three wonderful private onsens that did not require paying extra. Highly recommended ryokan to stay in Shima Onsen!

Really liked the room and the unique look of the hotel both inside and outside. It was in a great location, being right on the main road for the Daruma festival, as well as being just a 15 minute walk from the main station.

Tsuruya ligt op slechts 2 minuten lopen van Yakushido en heeft 3 openbare warmwaterbaden, gratis parkeergelegenheid en gratis WiFi in de lobby. Where do I even start — this was our favourite stay in Japan! We originally booked for two nights but ended up extending our stay after a typhoon warning was issued for our next destination. The staff were incredibly accommodating, helping us weigh our options and moving us into another available room for the extra nights, ensuring that breakfast and dinner were included. Our host, Hinata, was absolutely wonderful. She spoke clear English and went over every detail of our stay — from cleaning times to meal preferences — with such care and professionalism. She was welcoming, attentive, and genuinely made us feel at home. The rooms are incredibly spacious, with soft, cosy beds, including a TV with Netflix and Disney! Making it easy to spend the day inside doing nothing! The food was exceptional — comparable to a fine Australian degustation that would easily cost hundreds back home. One night, we were even treated to dinner at their sister restaurant down the road, where we enjoyed delicious Wagyu steak, complete with pick-up and drop-off service. There were also snacks and alcoholic drinks available for purchase, plus a daily happy hour from 2–5pm. The private onsens, both in-room and in the public facility, were perfect for unwinding — with free Yakult on hand as a thoughtful touch. They also offered complimentary pick-up and drop-off at the local bus stop for both arrival and departure, which made everything so seamless. It was the perfect escape from the bustle of Tokyo — relaxing, memorable, and truly special. I can’t wait to return!

Kinseikan Seseragi bevindt zich in Minakami, op 36 km van Skiresort Gala Yuzawa, en biedt accommodatie met een tuin, gratis privéparkeren, een terras en een bar. Lovely lovely ryokan. Staff were super friendly. The food was exceptional and we loved our room. The outside onsens are some of the nicest we’ve been lucky enough to visit.
