I had also birthday during our stay and the hotel staff prepared a wonderful dinner right at the sea, with Prosecco and wonderful decoration (it was a surprise: they wrote “Happy Birthday” and my name with little stones - very accurate and with details) and a cake special for me (they need to buy it outside!) It was really a wonderful stay :-)

First place we stayed with a bathtub too. Lots of hidden areas to explore.

They own this property and the one next door (which is connected by a small passage way!) This one is more modern, while the other is more "historical" but both are stunning and you couldn't go wrong either way. The rooms are beautiful, and the food is excellent. It's a small hotel so there are only a few guests which was great. People alternated between hanging out at the beach, by the pool, or in the shaded areas playing games and reading books. The location is so charming - it's close to the Bentota restaurants if you want to uber for dinner. But you'll probably never want to leave either since the food is so good and you have everything you need on property. Right outside the backyard of the hotel is the beach. It's a very short walk and you have to cross over these train tracks. You'll hear the train go by several times a day, but it's not too loud! I actually sat to watch the train and passengers go by often, and it made for lots of great pictures and videos. I appreciated how helpful the staff were. I could Whatsapp them no matter what I needed, for instance when they helped me arrange a massage at the spa. They also surprised me with a special dinner, birthday cake, and flowers for my birthday! I wish I had discovered this hotel earlier on my trip because I would've stayed the entire time. It was my favorite hotel of my two week long trip in Sri Lanka, and there were many other great ones! Don't hesitate, just book this! I will never stay at a larger hotel again.
