A lovely, family-owned guesthouse with a truly welcoming atmosphere. I stayed here the day before starting the Berliner Höhenweg, and the hosts were friendly and helpful. The room was spotless and cozy, with a balcony offering beautiful mountain views. Quiet location, yet close to everything in Mayrhofen. Perfect for relaxing before or after days on the trails. I would definitely stay here again.

The breakfast was good and plentiful and would have had something for every taste. Staff were friendly and the rooms were cleaned spotlessly by the time we returned from Breakfast each day. Location wise the hotel is right next to the main walking areas in Obergurgl so access was very easy.

The unit is great: spotless, beautiful, comfortable and worth every penny. The house is located at a beautiful vantage point, overlooking the entrance to Ötztal and very close to the valley's main attractions (the town of Ötz, Umhausen, Stuibenfall, Niederthai, and Piburgersee) - a perfect location. In hindsight, our stay was too short. This is a great place to stay while visiting this part of Austria. Warmly and highly recommended.

Lovely room, lovely breakfast, stunning location and Christian the owner was brilliant. We used the Gasthof Schontal as a base for travelling to and from Kitzbuhel for a days skiing and the Hahnenkahm races. A half hour drive takes you to Kirchberg in Tyrol where there is free parking and a free shuttle train which takes you into Kitzbuhel itself. Perfect

Everything was very clean. It is conveniently located in the center of town. Breakfast was good too.

We stayed for one night and the experience was beyond expectations. The place is very tidy, with new and spotless rooms and an excellent breakfast. Martin, the host, was extremely patient and helpful with every question and request. On our last day, when he noticed we were in a hurry to catch the bus, he kindly drove us to the city center. It really made our day! We were very satisfied and highly recommend staying here!
