There was a kitchen and a fridge. Our room had a beautiful view to the ocean. The owners and stuff were very friendly and treated us like a family. Thank you.🙏

They run a small cafe too so can get some decent coffee anytime. The lounge was ghibli themed and cosy with lots of suggestions for food and activities! Dorm room was as expected, lots of room for luggage.

Some people won't like that it's 20 to 30 minutes walk from the train station, but I found walking through the neighborhood streets really great. It''s located directly next door to a large supermarket and a kitchen is also provided so you can self cater. There are also several great local neighborhood restaurants within five to 10 minutes away. The staff are very accommodating. Everything is new and the beds were very comfortable

A recently renovated property, 峠のお宿 巧の実家 Magome Guest House, Along the Nakasendo Trail is situated in Nakatsugawa near Magome Observatory, Magome Wakihonjin Museum and Toson Memorial Museum. This property offers access to a terrace, free private parking and free WiFi. The property is non-smoking and is set 5.4 km from Otsumago. The house is spacious, very clean, very comfortable, and located in a beautiful, silent place outside Magome-juku. A stay there was really relaxing. And I have noticed some people on trail, pasing by the house, and loudly admiring how nice it is. The hosts say they do not offer breakfasts, but it is a kind of a lie! There is absolutely enough food provided, to have a very good breakfast. And talking about the hosts - they are amazing, so helpful and welcoming, like I have never seen before. Their invaluable help and advices allowed us to visit every place in the nearest region that we planned to, despite the unfavorable weather.

At the end of a long day hiking, we were greeted with a big smile as if we'd come home to our family, a feeling that is both priceless and heatwarming. Ken's kind and welcoming nature is only rivalled by Yuki's and her sense of humor. Dinner was as delicious as our breakfast (all guests shamelessly went for seconds and some even thirds taking the lead for a brave lady I shall not name), enjoyed to the sound of Jazz standards in a communal spirit shared with the other guests, all of whom polite and considerate, as if handpicked by the hosts or perhaps instinctively mirroring their behavior. Guests do not have to wait to take a shower because there are three showers, one of which with an additional bathtub, for four rooms. Everything is impeccably clean and organized, making you feel restful instantly. So, do not hesitate to book this guesthouse as you make your way along the Old Nakasendo Road or just take a taxi to Magome and walk a few hundred meters to take photos for your Insta. Whether you fit the former or latter category, you will be treated as a family member by the kindest people we've met during our 3-week stay in Japan. I've already recommended this guesthouse to everyone I know who is planning to visiting Japan.

It made our trip so much easier and more enjoyable. Such kindness and care are rare to find – highly recommend staying here!
