It was even better than i expected. Toshi and Haru were absolutely lovely and helped with anything you needed. The place itself is beautiful and really felt like a home. It is close to shuttles to both the ski fields and the nightlife. I would not stay anywhere else if i returned. It was an authentic, relaxing Japanese stay.

Traditional Japanese tatami rooms with an amazing breakfast and dinner. Minutes walk to the slopes, restaurants, and bars. The family that ran the place was more than helpful in every way from sending our gear with Yamato, making restaurant reservations, and so friendly. Had private onsen for guests only. Had it to myself most of the time. Breakfast and dinner was the best meal we had all 5 days we were there. Everywhere in town, you needed reservations. If you're looking for a traditional stay close to the slopes, this is the place for you. If you are looking for a party or modern beds, this isn't the place for you, but highly recommend immersing yourself in the traditions. Would definitely come back!!

A 10-minute drive from Hakuba Happo-One Winter Ski Resort, Pension Tomato offers spacious Western-style rooms with a loft area. Free WiFi is available at the entire property and guests can reserve a private open-air bath overlooking the forest. A free shuttle is available from JR Hakuba Train Station, which is a 5-minute drive away and must be reserved at time of booking. Forest views are available from the 2nd floor of the accommodation. Love it. Super friendly hosts who helped us a lot, offered to pick us up, take us to hire gear at echoland (with discount at affiliated store), take us to deliver our luggage and send us to the station upon checking out. Booked restaurants for us too since we didn't have a local phone number. Thank you so much! Great accommodation, very cosy and nice atmosphere, vending machine inside, 2 onsen rooms (one of which has an outdoor onsen too, very nice in the snow) which can be used privately by booking each day. Drying room for ski gear is very convenient. Short walking distance (<5 min) to free local bus stop to goryu, happo, iwatake and also to echoland base camp for the hakuba valley shuttle. Buses only run a few each day and finish pretty early, best to not miss the last one as getting a taxi can be a pain! Breakfast needs to be booked by 10am from the previous day, but it's amazing, highly recommended.

Hakuba Skala Inn has both Western rooms and Japanese rooms, which have traditional futon bedding on a tatami (woven-straw) floor. All rooms are heated. This was my 4th trip to hakuba, during my time I have never meet a kinder and nicer family that runs skala. Their hospitality was incredible and we loved every minute staying there :) they went above and beyond multiple times and every guest there would agree with what I said above. Thanks skala!!

Three of us stayed here for 5 days. We had the best time! The accommodation was extremely clean and comfortable with great facilities, including a storage area for all of our ski and snowboard gear. There’s also a bus station right down the street that takes you to Iwatake (which you can then transfer to another bus that takes you to every resort.) The best part were the owners — they were so kind and welcoming even though we did not speak Japanese. They cooked us breakfast and dinner and both were so delicious. We highly recommend and would definitely stay again! Thank you so much for the wonderful stay😁

This guest house is non-smoking and soundproof. The property is beautiful and comfortable. It is a separate private cabin that is attached to the outside of the hosts' home, with your own private entrance, bedroom, kitchen, shower+tub, and toilet . The location is very quiet and peaceful with nice views of the mountainside. You also get your own drying room with a separate heater, which is great for storing and drying ski gear each night. The location is perfect, it is a 1 minute walk away from a shuttle stop with free shuttles to Happo-One, Iwatake, Goryu, and 47. It is a 10-15 minute walk to central Echoland and restaurants. The hosts are great people. They are very kind and helpful. We were able to communicate easily through messaging and Google translate, and they were very responsive. They even offered to take us grocery shopping, got us seats at a good restaurant, and took us to the ski resort one morning. Their dog is cute too. They will make you feel welcome during your stay. We loved our stay and can't wait to come back!
