Miyajima Guesthouse Mikuniya is a traditional Japanese-style guesthouse located on Miyajima (Itsukushima). We spent two nights on the island, and it was absolutely amazing! In the evenings, after all the tourists have left, you can take a peaceful walk near the water and feel like you have the entire island to yourself. The guest house we stayed at was fantastic! Traveling with our 5-month-old, we felt incredibly welcomed. Our room was huge, especially compared to other accommodations in Japan, and the common area downstairs was spacious and inviting. They offered a mini buffet for both breakfast and dinner, which was just perfect for us. The atmosphere was relaxed and laid-back. The guest house is conveniently located halfway between the ferry terminal and the gondola. In the morning, we enjoyed a lovely walk through the park to the gondola and managed to beat the crowds. Highly recommend! They also has two onsen options which you essentially book just for your family.

In addition, the host was so kind and helpful and really went out of his way to make our stay memorable. He gave us great recommendations for dinner and helped us make reservations. The room was very spacious, the beds were very comfortable, and every amenity you could possible need was provided.

The building has been beautifully renovated, everything is new and plush. I’ve never stayed in such a first class hostel. The sliding doors for privacy by each bed are just great! The owner is lovely and strives to give an excellent service. He let me check in early because I arrived by bicycle (twice in fact). I returned because I liked it so much and felt at home. The place is probably the cleanest hotel in Japan, and that’s saying something. Also, the dining room chairs are so comfortable. Highly recommend.

We loved staying in an older traditional style Japanese home and experiencing sleeping on the tatami floor. The room was very spacious and the owners were kind and lovely people! The location was on the opposite end of the shopping street from the train station so lots of opportunity to see the town. We loved this stay!

The location is simply stunning, the guesthouse sits peacefully on the seafront of tranquil Mukaishima Island, surrounded by lush vegetation and easily accessible by car. It's the perfect destination if you're cycling along the Shimanami Kaido. Youko is an incredible host, warm, welcoming, and exceptionally helpful. She provided excellent recommendations for bike rentals, local restaurants, and activities, and every day left thoughtful notes at reception highlighting events happening in the area. When we accidentally left our backpack (with passports inside!) at the guesthouse, she promptly mailed it to our next destination without hesitation. Our 8-year-old daughter, Alice, loved the play area in the communal dining space, bouncing on the trampoline in the garden, and meeting the resident animals: friendly sheep, two charming cats, and Maroon, the adorable dog. The property itself is spotless. We stayed in one of the Japanese-style rooms, which felt spacious by Japanese standards, and offered spectacular views over the bay. The rooftop terrace was another highlight for us. We'd wholeheartedly recommend staying here, it’s truly a special place.

88 House Hiroshima is gelegen in Hiroshima, op 5 km van Aeon Mall Hiroshima-Fuchu, en biedt accommodatie met een tuin, gratis privéparkeren, een gedeelde lounge en een terras. We had an excellent 3 night stay here! It's a beautiful big traditional Japanese house with the host living in a separate house next door. There are 3 rooms in the house so there is the potential to be sharing with other guests. Toilets, shower rooms and kitchen are shared. Our room was huge with futons, a table, and sliding doors that opened up to a view of the garden. It was lovely to be able to hear the river rushing by right beside the house, and cool to stay in a quiet little neighborhood. The #29 bus is very easy to catch to and from Hiroshima station and it runs super frequently, so it wasn't a problem being slightly out from the city centre. We had a very relaxed and peaceful stay here and would definitely come back again. Thank you to our wonderful and friendly host Kengo!
