We spent three wonderful days in Hirosaki, a charming and authentic town that still feels untouched by mass tourism. It was refreshing to explore a place where the pace is slower and the culture feels so genuine. The absolute highlight of our stay was Guest House Chara, run by the kindest elderly couple, Fusao and Toshiko. Their warmth and hospitality made us feel completely at home—it wasn’t just a place to sleep, it truly felt like staying with family. Their house told a story, filled with warmth, history, and the little personal touches that made it feel lived-in and loved. From the amazing homemade breakfast to the delicious ramen dinners they prepared, every meal was made with care and love. The guest house is conveniently located, just a short walk from a supermarket and a laundromat, which made things really easy for us. This personal, welcoming experience truly made our trip special. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a meaningful, off-the-beaten-path experience in Japan. ありがとうございます

Uchi Matsushima Guesthouse se encuentra en Matsushima, a 23 km de Sendai City Community Support Center y a 5 min a pie de Entsuin Temple. Aside from the proximity to the waterfront and all of Matsushima's main attractions, the owner of the guest house is really friendly, great to chat to and had plenty of good recommendations for the local area. Great value, comfortable and welcoming. I'll happily be staying at Uchi guesthouse again the next time I'm in the area.

Hosts extremely helpful and friendly. Could not do enough to make our stay wonderful. Arrangement of last minute taxis to get us up and off the mountains at either end of Dewa Sanzan was done extremely quickly and well. Food amazing. A truly fantastic and memorable experience. The exceptional thing about this hostel is how the staff actively made an effort into welcoming travellers, Japanese and international into a temporary family. They helped with starting conversation and organizing dinner for staff and guests, and it just works. 11/10 staff experience for me. The atmosphere is great because of it too. Other than that it is just a nice little guest house with a couple of rooms, better showers than usual and everything I needed for my stay.
