Situated in the heart of York, The Bar Convent Guest House is only a 15-minute minute walk from the city centre and just over 300 metres from York Railway Station. The Grade I listed building offers an exhibition on the history of the site, a garden and free WiFi. A place with a super pleasant and friendly atmosphere, I felt super comfortable. The staff was super attentive, totally willing to help me and guide me. One of the guys who was at the reception kindly helped me with my luggage.

Great host from June and all the staff who were so friendly and provided exceptional service. The highly acclaimed breakfast was the highlight and it did not disappoint!

Situated just 300 metres from York Minster, Minster Walk Guest House is a charming 300-year old coaching inn with free WiFi.

The individually designed rooms have a flat-screen TVs, Egyptian cotton bed linen, and tea and coffee making facilities. Some rooms have views of York Minster. Each offers en-suite facilities with luxury toiletries. Finally, a typical hotel! The room was very light, spacious, immaculately clean and quiet. There was not only a kettle in the room, but a whole range of teas, snacks and hot chocolate. The view from the window was lovely and the bathroom with bath was exceptional! Breakfast is served in picnic baskets and can be pre-ordered, again typical products and finally not the usual fake hotel breakfast. There is always a corner with hot drinks and snacks. In short, impossible not to feel good!

The property has garden views and is 1 km from Peasholm Park and 1.6 km from The Spa Scarborough. Free WiFi is available and private parking can be arranged at an extra charge. You won't find a better hotel at this price point. The area is lovely and the view from the terrace is the best in town. The owner is absolutely determined to make this work and puts in a huge effort. My daughter left her toy here and he posted it back to us, which was extremely kind. In future, I would go for one of the king rooms as the double rooms are standard doubles.

We had a very good experience, especially because of the hosts: very warm, welcoming and helpful people that made us feel at 'home away from home'. the house is beautifully decorated, sparkling clean (honestly, we haven't seen one speck of dust in 3 days we've been there). The location is superb, close to many attractions but tucked away from noise and crowds, the breakfast was delicious and the bed was super comfortable. They have beautiful outdoors sitting are where we had one meal and loved it too. Our room had a shower and toilet outside, which wasn't what we expected, but it stoped being a bother after a short while. Overall a great place to stay and we will definitely be back if in the area.
