It was very easy to get to by car, and I was the only guest in the entire house. The owners are so nice, and always willing to chat with you. They don't know much English so it is better if you know Japanese. However, your stay will still be a very comfortable one as they go above and beyond to meet all your expectations.

Makoto-san is a gracious host and an excellent cook. The dinner and breakfast were marvelous, with an assortment of local specialties and treats. I will be thinking about the delicious sweet potato cake served with breakfast for quite awhile!

Great space in the house, multiple rooms on the ground floor including the kitchen, everything is neat and clean. Koh-san always goes above and beyond: this time, he helped us buy tickets for a performance (which required research and dedication!), and also with a hotel reservation needing phone calls. Thank you so much for all your help, and we hope to be back again one winter -- Akita is our favorite prefecture!

The surrounding area has a lot of natural beauty; with mountains, forests and lakes all reachable by bike (which you can rent). The hostel its self also has a common area and kitchen, which are very cosy in winter. The facilities and bedding is first rate.

She greeted us warmly and her English is good. We had to use Google translate to explain more details when we were talking about all sorts of topics. It felt more like an air BnB than a hotel. The surrounding area was quiet and cozy. It feels like home away from home.
