This was my favorite stay during my trip! Surrounded by the countryside, this 280 years old house has all the charms of its age, but still reasonably modern amenities. The staff is especially friendly, helpful, and welcoming. And you can get amazing home-cooked meals too! If you want to go out of the beaten path and explore the rural side of Japan, this is absolutely the best place!

Both dinner and breakfast were very delicious. The food arrangement was a combination mostly of typical Japanese dishes with a touch of western cuisine. We stayed on New Year's Eve so we even got some special dishes on top! For drinks, there were also several home-made ones (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) to choose from. The owner was extremely nice! He and his partner have a lot of international travel experience, especially in Latin America and Spain. They have very broad perspectives, so it's not a problem to stay as a foreigner even if you haven't been to Japan before. The inn of course has a natural hot spring bath, and we were able to book a time-slot to use privately. It is a remote location far away from the city, so we could enjoy some time away from the busy city and do some stargazing as well. They keep several cats which are very cute and friendly towards the guests.

A perfect stay with super warm hospitality from Ryuji-san. He even drove us to enjoy the sunset view of Inawashiro lake.

Good facilities and clean. The owner is amazing, great English and understanding of visitors coming from being a world traveler himself. He's probably visited your country too. Helped me with recommendations, in the area and the next places I wanted to visit. And as a Dutchie, being able to rent a bike here at the hostel itself was a big plus too.

The staff, family hotel, we're amazing. It really felt as a home to us. Food was delicious, really recommend having dinner at the property as well. Everything was clean and if you love nature or skiing, this is your go to spot. Best stay we've had in Japan.
