The owner of the hostel is very welcoming and invites the guests to join activities in and around Susami. One evening, friends came along to have a BBQ in the courtyard, and I was invited to join. Some people complain about missing things like toothbrushes, shampoo, etc., but the owner provides so much more: great hospitality.

All units in the hostel are equipped with a TV. All rooms come with a private bathroom with a bidet, a hairdryer and slippers. The units at Albany inn Shirahama アルバニーイン白浜 feature air conditioning and a desk. The owners were very helpful and friendly. The beds were comfortable. The well equipped shared kitchen is spacious and offers a large fridge with freezer as well as a table for having dinner with four people. We would definitely come back. It is only a short drive to the zoo and other activities as well as shirahama beach and the beautiful coastline.

Yoichi the owner is very nice and knows his trade. Plus, impossible to get a better location if you're planning to do the Kumano Kodo. Totally recommended!

I think it was a full dorm (6-7 other people) during my stay but it was surprisingly quiet and everyone was respectful of each other's space. The shower and restroom are separated from the sleeping quarter so it stays surprisingly quiet throughout the night. Staff is friendly, accommodating, and fluent in English. As seen in the photos, the sleeping space for the dormitory is quiet small but I (5'7'') was able to sleep very comfortably with room to spare. For a short term stay as a solo traveler, this place can't be beat.
