My wife and I come from England and Germany. We both had good careers in IT but decided there was more to life and moved to Austria where we can ski in winter, walk, cycle and swim in spring, summer and autumn. We have never looked back :-)

The scenic footpaths and cycle routes are in close vicinity - as is the Koppenwinkel lake in the nearby Nature Reserve which is a short walk away. About 2km from our house is the Lake Hallstatt with its bathing beach, boat hire etc. .......whether it be Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter - there is something for everyone at Landhaus Osborne. From skiing, snowboarding, hiking, cycling, horse riding, kajaking, and lots more...or just relaxing.

Guests will love the pure nature of our surroundings - whatever the season or weather. The whole area is a UNESCO World Heritage site. In summer we recommend that guests visit Hallstatt - not just the village itself, but also the Salt Mines and the highly interesting museum where you will learn the 7,000 year history of the town. Here in Obertraun, we have the Dachstein caves and Hiking World and recommend guests visit the Giant Ice Cave and the 5-fingers. In winter Landhaus Osborne is the perfect base for exploring this area of outstanding natural beauty characterised by the Dachstein mountain range. The region provides a real adventure for downhill and cross country skiers and snowboarders of all abilities. In total, our local ski areas offer well over 200 kms of perfectly groomed snow-sure pistes which are suitable for all abilities - from young learners right up to expert freeriders. Resorts such as Krippenstein Freeride Arena, Dachstein West, Loser, Tauplitz and many more are either in our village or a short drive away. For those who prefer to take things more easy there is snow shoe hiking, horse-drawn sleigh rides etc. Obertraun has plenty to offer.
